Room service ?

Recommended Posts

Can you order room service for breakfast on the last morning before leaving the ship?

Thanks in advance .

Long ago and very far away you could get room service continental breakfast. Now it’s MDR and Oceanview for restricted hours. Personally I think it’s lovely that on such a busy day for the crew we can have a lovely full service goodbye breakfast in the MDR.

Is the MDR breakfast open to all passengers? The Oceanview Cafe is so crowded that last morning that we skip breakfast.

Cafe al Bacio serves continental breakfast on the last morning, which is enough to hold us over for a few hours.

Yes, But watch the posted times for the MDR breakfast because they cut it off early. As long as you get in there before the final time shown, they will serve you.

The final morning on Celebrity is always chaotic madness with people rushing back and forth.

In general we prefer Celebrity to Holland America, but the final morning breakfast and debarkation process is something that Holland America handles so much better than Celebrity does.

Curious, how do they do it on Holland America? Never been. I'm just always amazed how quickly they turn the ships around.

Thank you, Varoo.

My husband is an early morning breakfast person. He will be happy to know the MDR is open for business on that last morning. We don't enjoy the last mad rush in the buffet.

Holland America provides room service breakfast on the last day. It makes getting ready to disembark very easy and efficient because one person can eat breakfast while the other one is using the bathroom, and then you switch places.

It eliminates all that wasted time spent rushing back and forth through the hallways to get to the dining room or buffet, and then back to your cabin to freshen up before leaving the ship.

You also don't have the wasted time waiting to be seated, waiting for them to take your order, and then waiting for them to deliver your food.

Those who prefer to go to the dining room or buffet for breakfast can still do so on HAL, but they don't have the congestion because so many passengers just opt for room service breakfast that last day.

It is great to have the choice.

HAL also lets you remain in your cabin until you are ready to leave the ship, so they don't have the chaotic traffic congestion of people and luggage blocking the hallways, going in opposite directions and trying to get past the cleaning carts, with everyone trying to get through the hallways at the same time.

It is just a much more pleasant, relaxing way to leave the ship on the last day, instead of the hectic, frazzled experience we get on Celebrity where we need to rush to pack up and get out of our room early, and then be kept sitting around waiting with our luggage in a congested departure lounge.

(Yes, even when our departure lounge is Michael's Club, we don't enjoy sitting around there with all the luggage on that final morning.)

We don't know for certain how HAL accomplishes turning around the cabins so quickly and efficiently, but we have heard that they hire extra people just for that purpose on turnaround days.
