Multiply upgrade offers for the same cruise

Has anyone received multiply upgrade offers for the same booking? As of today (14SEP18) My wife and I have received 5 different upgrade offers for a booking on the Sunshine sailing in December. The first 3 upgrades just moved us from our original interior cabin to another interior cabin but on a higher deck, and the price was not worth it. On the 4th upgrade offer the price was right and it moved us from Deck 1 to the Lido and it was only for $20$ total. (We took that one) Normal my story would stop here, but today I received another upgrade offer and this time it was not for a interior upgrade. It was for a window, window cloud nine spa, balcony, or suite. Pricing from 200 for the window view to 550 for the suite, for a 5day cruise.

So here is my real question, Have any of you also received multiply upgrade offers and is it common to for these offer to keep going down in price like the first 4 I received?

Also if it makes any difference I booked this cruise 2 years ago.

in my opinion, moving up a deck for the same cabin is not an upgrade. When we book our Spa Balcony, the only real upgrade would be a suite with the Cloud 9 included, never happened. Also, look at the deck maps and check the location they are offering, under casino? close to galley?

I agree, the only reason we took the upgrade to the Lido is, it what my wife wanted. We had also booked the same room 4 years ago and got bumped out of it when Carnival changed their cruise schedules, we ended on taking a different cruise.

Hi

I disagree. Going from deck one to the Lido deck is an upgrade, and for $20 it was a bargain.

I have received two offers on one cruise once. That was the most. Very often the price they make the offer for is not worth it.

To go from an inside on one deck to same one deck higher would not do much for me.

Lately many of these upsells not worth it

I've only been offered one upsell and it was for a balcony cabin on a higher floor.

I suspected though that the real reason was to move us from a balcony cabin that sleeps 4 to a balcony cabin that sleeps 3 and I said so. I told him that I would move to the other cabin for free. They declined my offer:confused: .

I think most upsells are to free up more space in a cabin or free up the interior cabins that they have an easier time selling late for less money while extracted more money out of you.

Moving from deck 1 to Lido is a big upgrade imo. I probably wouldn’t do the second upgrade...but that upgrade from deck 1 to Lido probably only would’ve been another $25-75 to start with so I would’ve booked it from the beginnning.

I’ve only been receiving 1 upsell offer per cruise and it’s usually $500-600 to go from a Lido interior to a deck 6 or 7 balcony.

These offers go out weekly by the thousands. The upsell revenue requirements are reassessed and can fluctuate from week to week / ship to ship / category to category based on cabin inventory. So they could go up. They could go down.

It makes no difference when the cruise was booked.

Ive only had one upsell offer, lol, but then i had my pvp mark this current booking: DO NOT MOVE WITHOUT CONTACTING ME. ... or words to that effect.

Last time I booked a porthole, i got a surprise upgrade to a much smaller HC cabin and boy was I pissed off to be moved. I had no idea and even went to the porthole cabin I booked and unpacked all my suitcase. Noticed a welcome back type letter on the desk not addressed to me .. then found out the cabin was no longer mine.

I like the portholes because for a inside price you can see out and they are just almost the size of a OV, so much bigger than a regular inside. great for solo cruising.

So the only upsell that would be a upgrade to me would be another cabin I can see out, a OV. not a inside on a higher deck. Maybe thats why i dont get upsell offers.

Plus I noticed last night the prices have gone up on my cruise. Even less chance imo of getting a upsell at a price I would consider. (lol even if i hadnt had my pvp mark my booking not to move me without notice).

I still dont think Carnival should take away the cabin you booked without at least sending you a email. This was a matter where even though I love my PVP we kinda came to a fight. She kept defending Carnival. I do know they have a right to move you, but i think they should at least send a email or tell you.

The cruise we are going on in is in November, and we've been sent at least 4 "upgrade" offer things. One was to switch room types from a Balcony to a Suite. But it was about $1200 more pp to do that. Then they wanted us to switch from the balcony to the Spa Room, but the only ones they had were on Deck 12 which I was not willing to do. Then in July, there was an email to upgrade to a Jr. Suite for $1300. Then last month, they sent another offer for "Upper Level" Balcony rooms, plugging that it's by the Lido Deck. I looked, but they were all near the back of the ship, and I get motion sickness, so I was scared to accept that.

I've never gotten so many emails. We are on Deck 8, in the middle of the ship, with a balcony, and I know it's above the hot tubs, so noise may be an issue, but we like the location of our room from the deck plans, and we are surrounded by other rooms, but close to the elevator. So hopefully it's a good room! We heavily considered the spa room upgrade, but the location was just so bad compared to what we have now, for us personally. I'm hoping we do not get our room switched, because we did accidentally book a room that holds 4 people and has those pull down beds, so they could easily rebook it for more people and make more money off of it.
