bail8297 Posted September 22, 2018 #1 Share Posted September 22, 2018 We recently booked the 10 day Oct 31, 2018 Panama Canal sailing. I’m trying to find some info on Wi Fi aboard. There is a mention of it in public areas, but no info on whether you have to pay for it. Anyone have any knowledge ?
tailspintom Posted September 22, 2018 #2 Share Posted September 22, 2018 We recently booked the 10 day Oct 31, 2018 Panama Canal sailing. I’m trying to find some info on Wi Fi aboard. There is a mention of it in public areas, but no info on whether you have to pay for it.Anyone have any knowledge ? The WiFi is free. You can establish an account and get some useful information on your account(s) and the daily activities. It will also assist in knowing where some things are on the ship. There is some basic abilities to communicate across to other accounts, but no audible alerts. The internet is fee based. Some ships have established levels of service according to your usage. Others have a fee based on the number of minutes used. If you look on your booking, you can see the options available on the on board reservations tab. One note of caution, make sure that you properly log off.
Potstech Posted September 22, 2018 #3 Share Posted September 22, 2018 If unsure of the prices or how to use it locate the Internet Cafe and ask to be shown how to use it. As stated to use the "Internet" yup must purchase time.

As stated to use the "Internet" yup must purchase time. To clarify "internet" (off-the-ship connectivity), because things are changing. It used to be that all Princess ships charged you by the minute. Either against a block of minutes that you had already purchased (or received as a loyalty perk) or at ...piratical rates. As new equipment is being installed ship by ship, Princess is adding "unlimited minutes" plans that vary by the portion of the internet to which they allow connections: social media only, no streaming, or pretty much wide open.
