Recent Glory Exeriences?

I was on the Glory a few years ago when my daughter started working on the Entertainment Staff - therefore spent a lot of my time with her during events she was involved in rather than the things I normally do onboard. My sister and I will be sailing on the Glory next month and was wondering what recent cruisers thought of her. There have been some changes - Seafood Shack, Waterworks, etc. - since I was onboard.

We will be in a Lido balcony - really looking forward to that. My sister & I were on the Conquest, again several years ago, and for some reason, it was our least favorite ship. I'm thinking it was just the luck of the draw in reference to not-so-friendly crew and some pretty bad weather. I know Glory is a sister ship and I'm hoping our experience will be better.

Anyway, I look forward to hearing your experiences.

Glory was a nice ship for us, been on it twice both before and after the dry dock. Ship was in good shape in July and had a good time on her on the 7 day eastern. I wish Eric the voice from above was still around, but all in all a good vacation. Enjoyed sitting by the bar area in Serenity, casino and comedy shows. Dinner service and food was good (we mainly did late assigned dining, Guy's, Pizza and the Deli). Good ports overall and excursions were good - we did it through Carnival.

I'm curious as to what excursions you did in the Eastern?

Thanks!

We were on the Glory in April, and our cruise was similar to previous cruises on the Glory and other Conquest class ships. I think I've spent 7 weeks on the Glory since 2016? Our last was a casino fare, those are basically why we would book that class of ships anymore as our tastes have now "graduated" to the Dream and Vista class ships or other cruise lines.

There is nothing wrong with the Glory, it's like an old pair of jeans, comfortable with some worn spots. When we can score another discounted casino fare on it, we'll book it again. Full fare, we'll look elsewhere.

Was on an extended cruise last September. Was supposed to be east, ended up west and had a great time. Could of stayed on an extra few days ( no, really) but, needed to get home to assess any damage. Great ship. In January we went for a ride on the Liberty and it was like we picked up where we'd left off.

We did Liberty last Christmas.

We were on the Glory in May. I was nervous because we weren't impressed at all with the Conquest 2 years before, then loved the Vista the next year. I went in with the best attitude possible and was pleasantly surprised. She didn't live up to the Vista, but was 100% better than the Conquest. When did you sail on the Conquest? We were May of 16.. You'll have a good time on the Glory, don't let your Conquest experience ruin it before you board!

We were on the Conquest in 2015. Later that same year I was on the Glory. I had a good time on the Glory, but as I said, most of the time was spent at my daughter's events (it was her 2nd week onboard in the Entertainment Crew). She was a little homesick & trying to adjust to the life, so I didn't get to experience the ship in the way I normally do - most of the time, it was listening to her & trying to encourage her (lol).

I'm not sure what soured us on the Conquest - it wasn't one particular thing - but out of over 20 cruises with CCL, it was probably my least favorite cruise.

I am sure that we will have a great time!!

This is a casino fare for us too - my first Ultra Premier cruise. I've done several regular Premier cruises, but am interested in seeing how this experience differs. Have you ever been on an Ultra cruise?

I'll be honest - I haven't paid full fare in quite a few years. I am totally spoiled with Casino deals - of course I spend more money & time in the casino than I probably should. However, I spent the same amount of $$ in the casino when I was paying full fare, so they are still great deals for us. Makes it really difficult to branch out to other lines.

We did the Catamaran sailaway beach and snorkel in Grand Turk - good crew, included drinks/chips, as long as you don't mind not going to where the stingrays are. In San Juan, Xtream zipline adventure and the beast - I thought it was worth the bus ride, i think it was about 8 or 9 ziplines, including the beast. In Amber Cove, we did the ATV adventure and beach, definitely a rough bus ride in an open air vehicle to get there (majority of it is on a dirt bumpy road), but it was worth it once you arrived. We didn't do a tour in St Thomas, just took a taxi by the pier to the shopping area and walked around.

I'll be doing a solo casino Ultra cruise in November on the Magic. I had booked an inside on Empress, then accepted an $80 upsell to an Empress balcony. Done many premiers, maybe 10 so far? I think the big difference between the Ultra and Premier is that on the Ultra the prizes are much better, like Ipads and everyone wins something. I'll find out for sure in 6 weeks!

That was a great upsell price. We were very lucky to be able to book a Lido Balcony with the casino deal. I've heard that everyone will have a scheduled time to spin a wheel for a prize & that they were all good prizes. My sister and I both got the Ultra deal so we'll see who gets the best prize!!

I've done solo cruises - probably 3-4 times - and totally enjoyed myself. Now that my sister is retired, I'm not sure she would ever let me run away alone (lol). She loves cruising as much as I do & loves the casino even more.

You just concentrate on enjoying your first cruise. Don't forget to come on after you get back & tell us how it went.
