Yes...thanks for the pic! A bit of an eye sore. Well, more than a bit. I wonder how one even goes about repairing that, or if it’s even possible without altering future itineraries to build additional time in port.

The Voyager has been scheduled as "out of service" for 5 days from Venice until we board her in Athens. Maybe a charter or a planned visit to an Italian shipyard! Anyone know?

While I am not 100% that I am remembering this correctly, when the Navigator either hit a rock or went aground a few months ago, the ship was held until it could be inspected. Perhaps, in addition to a safety issue, this was an insurance issue - needing to examine the damage prior to the ship(s) going back out to sea.
The Nav ran aground on a mud bank in Myanmar on the World Cruise.

Actually think it was in Bali.

It was Bali. The captain had a choice of the unlighted small fishing boat in the narrow channel or the mud. He went with the mud.

Some experience....kept us in port another 33 hours while we waited for divers to come from Jakarta to check out the bottom and clear us as sea worthy. Missed the next port and arrived late for the second one...thus missing two wonderful World Heritage Sites. Really messed up Bali docking arrangements for other ships over the next two days. Quite a show with all the tendering as we were hogging the dock.

It sounds as if the Navigator went aground twice. I now remember that it was Bali and it was quite recent. While I understand the frustration of passengers onboard the ship that are waiting for it to depart, they really cannot depart until the damaged is thoroughly checked out (by the insurance company and likely by people that have the knowledge to access the damage).

Unless the Navigator went aground or something after the world cruise, the only issue this year was in Bali in March, well and loosing power in the middle of the Pacific in late Jan or early Feb. Of course, something might have happened in 2017 or earlier, but it was not mentioned on board during our issues this last spring.

I followed some passengers on the Navigators return to NYC and then the recent 90 + day Artic adventure. The ship seemed to be problem free.

Stuff happens when traveling, but we did get an extra over night in Bali.

Thanks for explaining. It sounded as if it went aground in Myanmar and Bali.

Anything more on this? We’re on Voyager Athens-Rome on October 17. It sound like some itineraries will be impacted in a pretty major way.

Its 100% for sure a charter.

I have it on good authority they have a crew of specialists coming to address the repair, but it is not going out of service.

Confirmed with senior crew that the voyager has a 5 nite charter out of Venice to Athens. The ship is fine, just needs a quick visit to the body shop....the work will be done when possible. Good cruise but still a bit annoyed regarding the needlessly missed ports followed by a rather difficult tender in Kotor.

What made the tender in Kotor difficult?

Usually dock right in town or tender in a calm, fjord-like bay!

The last few days of the cruise had some wind issues. We couldn't tie on the pier at Kotor as a large MSC vessel was there so it was a tender port. The ship was originally quite far in towards the port and anchored, but the winds once again reared up which might have made the tenders a little sporty, so the Captain decided to move the ship probably 1.5 miles or so further away to a sheltered area to anchor. Made for a bit longer tender ride but it was certainly no biggie and I didn't hear anyone complain.

Kotor....we were hours late getting off the ship due tendering issues. The plan was to dock later in the day but captain later changed his mind. Then, tendering was discontinued due to wind. Not a great experience. We have been to Kotor 4 or 5 times with silversea and never had to tender even is a larger ship was in port with us. In koper today and work is being done to fix the dent resulting from the Rome event.

We are in Greece now on a land trip. With all due respect, the “Medicane” which is a cyclone in the Mediterranean, is the worst storm in 80 years according to our host. It impacted Italy on east with high winds and rain.

I'm totally honest, not sure why you seem to be so negative about it?

Missing Pompeii was indeed a huge bummer and communication could have been better that night (and I definitely noted it), but I would be lying if I said anything else really negatively impacted the vacation. Maybe flaky internet? Re-boardng in Corfu was not great but I blame the port of Corfu for that gongshow, not Regent. The tender issue in Kotor was such a small deal for enjoyment of that day its a non-issue and didn't effect the day or enjoyment of port at all.

Staff was excellent, ports were excellent, food was great, excursions were better than I expected, genuinely nothing to whine about on my side than what I mentioned.

Why negative feelings? In really don't like being told things that are half true. If one does a bit of research they will learn that first Rome and the Kotor were mishandled. That is my issue.

With respect to the other issues, I agree.

Anyone know if the voyager passes its health inspections today.

?? Those were discussed in this very thread?

Half true? What does that even mean? I'm speaking 100% truth for how I feel. If you have different feelings about it, that's on you not me. Rome was not handled well and communication could have been better. It's a big disappointment I missed Pompeii. Weather could have been better but I can't hold Regent to controlling that. Otherwise? I'm not holding anything back, heck, I'm the one that started the thread and posted photos that Regent would probably would have rather not in the first place.

If you have big problems with your cruise, air them out. Just be known it's not universal and many on this ship enjoyed the cruise, hiccups and all. Was it trouble free? Absolutely not. Was it a disaster? Well, maybe for some people but not me. It was still an enjoyable relaxing vacation which is what I was looking for. That's my position for the experience for us and the other couple we were traveling with.

Awful for you or a big disappointment? could be, but I would not be so presumptuous as to speak for you or say you are saying "half truths" - whatever that's supposed to mean.

Please don't put words in my mouth....i never said the cruise was a disaster and I been to Pompeii, Capri and Sorrento many times. It's a shame that you were unable to visit these wonderful places. You could have gone if the situaion was properly handled. Was I disappointed...not really, but I respect the truth and that was lacking many times on this voyage. Looking forward to Venice tomorrow and our next cruise to Australia and New Zealand...,.on Silversea.
