Grandeur scheduled for drydock 3/16/2019.

Recommended Posts

Same here.

I just checked, and that cruise is still for sale on RCI site.

As of 7.25 pm, after selecting # of guests, a message pops up:

Sorry, there are no staterooms available for 2 guest(s).

Please update your number of guests, choose another sail date, or call (866) 562-7625 to speak to a Royal Caribbean accessibility specialist.

Same message pops up for 1, 3, 4 guests. Royal is playing games :D;) LOL!

Just spoke with a rep @ 7.30 pm(Cindy)who assured that the sailing is NOT cancelled.

She sees an internal message "Closed for Inventory Maintenance" and explained that revenue has temporarily closed it for booking to take a look at the cabin inventory .

Who knows WHAT is going on!

I was on the 3/7 cruise and got the email, it’s been cancelled. I have already rebooked on a different sailing.

Well... After an 1.5 hours on the phone, we had to cancel this cruise. They had no grand suites available so the price guarantee was worthless. AND we canceled our future anniversary cruise, which cost us our deposit. $200 penalty, and 300 for a future cruise, that they wouldn’t even apply as an OBC to my upcoming cruise. Better $500 now than $10k later. If I could cancel my Anthem cruise in 9 days, we would!

Done with RCCL. Never again.

Thank you for posting this. Would you be willing to post the rest of option #2? I would like to have my mind made up before I call my TA tomorrow. TIA

According to the RCCL email you should get back your full deposit if you take the option to cancel even if it was non refundable.

No, I'm not throwing more good money after bad (as my mother would say). Their price protection is only good for matching cabins on the cruises and dates they choose, no others. Since the cruises they offer are sold out of Grand Suites, the price protection offer is null and void. We would have to pay the going rate. A Junior suite (without the GS extras) was as much as what we paid for the Grand now. They refused to work with me at all. That's the offer... period. It's called the Royal Screwing.

I can spend that money elsewhere. There are plenty of other cruise lines, and other vacations out there.

Got an email that March 7 is cancelled for dry dock and the options for rebook did not start until March 22. I think the March 16 cruise was cancelled as well.

Sorry for your loss.

We made delicious lemonade from the Royal lemons and moved on to a different cruise on Royal.

We chose option 3 from the offers. For not acting like a spoilt brat, demanding, yelling and screaming at the rep like it was his fault, an upgrade and some extra OBC was also thrown in. Sweeet!

We tried the pleasant route. They were not budging from "the offer". I guess your rep could actually do something. Ours couldn't. He got through to the Resolutions dept, they wouldn't move.

Win some, lose some... moving on.

Sorry you got a bum rep and Resolutions would not work with you. But you are not going to give up in one call, are you?

However, if it is making you this upset as to never cruise Royal again, I agree with you and the best is to move on which ever way you choose. Good Luck for the future.

This. Anyone who has been on CC long enough knows to call at least twice, as you may have different outcomes.

Absolutely. Every time. It’s unfortunate but each call yields different results.

I have a concrete suggestion.

Write an account of your situation that is succinct and pleasant.

Include what you consider an acceptable resolution.

Send it to

I am having a hard time with this too. Not ranting and raving, just not feeling the love from RCL.

I am trying to book April 6. February is not a good month to cruise from Baltimore. the other 2 cruises in the offer are February. That is when the east coast gets its winter storms [rain and snow] and they mostly form on the North Carolina Coast and move north. We have cruised to the Caribbean a few time in winter and the seas are often rough. Sometimes VERY rough.

My TA called RCL and found that my Spacious Oceanview cabin deck 7 [1-M] is sold out. So, there is no price protection for me, either. These IM cabins were added during a previous drydock and have floor to ceiling windows and they are on the Centrum. At booking they cost about $400 more than a regular OV --but, we wanted to try them.

We decided we might pay to upgrade to a balcony cabin, but they are sold out, too.

OK, we will take an OV. There are only 4 left.

So, we said OK. We will pay about what we would have paid for the far superior 1-M. . . . not happy but you have to let it go.

I reminded the TA that we booked this with a future cruise certificate. The old kind that gave generous OBC based on the number of days for the cruise. [12 days for both the cancelled and the new cruise] The TA says RCL says I only have $75 OBC. That my next cruise certificate is 4 years old and they will not honor it. It is expired.

What!! These did not expire. . . . And besides I used this certificate to book the old cruise. How can they penalize me when THEY cancelled my cruise. It was not 4 yrs old when I used it and no one mentioned any problem to me then.

The TA contacted a supervisor and resolutions and they would not budge. She has made 3-4 phone calls because she called me after each one. I thanked her and told her to book the OV because I am afraid they will sell out and I will call Crown and Anchor D+ desk.

Does anyone have any advice for me? Have you had a similar problem. The OBC should be $150 for the 12 day cruise. [right?] I know it is not that much, but I feel very used by this process.

Ask for a three way call with your TA and RCI - tell/get the story directly from RCI.

Yes, do not give up on this. You are right that you must get the full $150. Keep pressing.

Again, if there is no satisfactory resolution, write it all up and send it to mbayley@rccl.com

Let his office know that his reps are just making this stuff up as they go along, instead of following actual known facts and procedures.
