If NCL changes anything they will email you

Usually - but not always!!  When our Escape itinerary had several changes - due to Florence - a few weeks ago there were several in our group that never received any official notifications from NCL.  :classic_unsure:

Wrong....we’ve been purchasing Nationwide Choice Cruise Ins for years and now switched to Nationwide Luxury plan

The Choice plan pays $750 per person if a port is Changed or Canceled Pre cruise...on the Luxury plan it pays $1,250 per person

Counting our Upcoming Bliss Nov 3rd cruise we have/will of gotten paid 3 out of our last 4 cruises 💰💰😜

1st Cruise was when Carnival canceled Turkey on the Vista....got home and 2 weeks later had checks for $1,500

The followering year we got $1,500  again for ports changed because of the hurricane

Now once home from the Bliss we’ll get $2,500

Nationwide is On Your Side 💰💰😜😜🤣

Heck now I hope for port changes Pre cruise 🤣🤣

Do you pay commensurately much more for coverage?

I'd be more upset about having to go to Ensenada.

Encinada has some very pretty country sides and a couple of decent wineries for touring, no not the best port on the pacific but with a good attitude it can work. I really don't think there was many other choices.

We paid $127 total for the two of us on the Choice plan.....The Luxury plan was around $165 total

We don’t get Cancel for any reason which is slightly more.....I’m just concerned about Medical, Evac and the extra cruise only benefits which so far I’m def getting the benefit from 😜🤣🤣

I understand safety is #1 but I also understand people being upset.

They paid for a Mexican Riviera cruise and got a California cruise 🙄

Unfortunately there will be no compensation and that's just the way the cookie crumbles.

I get it sucks but there is also common sense.  Going south is going towards a Cat 5 hurricane.  It's completely unfair to pax who were looking forward to Mexico, but it's also what's called an "act of God" and not NCL's fault or anyone else's.  The original itinerary is clearly not an option, and I wonder about upcoming itineraries to that area.  Mazatlan seems to be in line for a direct hit.

My son lives in  San Diego.  Last month, we drove from his house to Valle de Guadalupe for wine touring.  It's about 24 miles from Ensenada to wineries.  My first time there and I was impressed with the wineries.  Very nice locations!  I think you can get a Uber driver to drive you around.

We are also sailing on the 27th.  Any idea how to get more information?  I am new to cruising.

This is a one-time diversion due to a 2-3 day hurricane event. The 10-day forecast shows nothing but sun after Wednesday for PV and Mazatlan. If you google a history of Mexican hurricanes you won’t see many in November. There might be some leftover damage from a storm surge, but the locals and ship excursions will do their utmost to get people out spending.

I’ll be on the 27th cruise, and with all the complaining and desire to get compensated and enriched by insurance, how about a little compassion for the locals and expats about to be hit by a hurricane. If your parents or kids or grandkids were in a seaside PV resort, unable to fly out, would your  prime concern about a major hurricane be over OBC or the insufferable indignity of sailing under the Golden Gate Bridge or watching kids play in the charming musical fountain in Ensenada?

$165 is per cruise or per year? (ie: no matter how many cruises)

$500k emergency evac and $25k primary medical only insurance costs me $21 for a 20 day cruise from ny to Quebec last month on the Gem.

i just checked Nationwide Luxury Cruise plan for a quote on my $768 15day caribbean cruise this sat on Breakaway for just me.

$63.63

but i dont see your $1250 for intinery change?

all i see is:

Trip Cancellation $768
Trip Interruption $1,152
Itinerary Change - Pre-Paid Excursion Reimbursement - $1,000
Missed Connection (3+ hours) - $2,500

my state = VA

What state do you live in? They exclude a bunch of states from that feature, I am not sure why.

Never missed a port throughout my cruising. That being said, I don't sail in the middle of Hurricane Season.

I would definitely consider this insurance for future cruises given the low cost and potential for big pay-out. Better chance of getting a pay-out through NationWide vs. NCL Casino :classic_huh:

Sorry Doug that this post had to end with insurance policies, costs, coverage and how to apply. I'm sure this was not your intention of your post.

Happy Birthday to Sue, Happy Birthday to Sue.
Happy Birthday (I'm sure you were spoiled and deserve it),
Happy Birthday to Sue.

We hope the rest of your "See the CA Coastline" is calm and warm.
BTW, we missed Maz on the last weeks sail due to Sergio. It didn't slow down the party.

I interviewed a few passengers during my lunch break on their feelings about the itinerary change (out of morbid curiosity) - there was intense anger no doubt, I mean - you planned a trip to 85 degree Mexico, and end up in 57 degree SF? Didnt seem people knew what to do - there was a free shuttle to pier 49 but seems a lot of people stayed ok the ship too. Captain nevertheless made the safe decision but man, lots of upset passengers to say the least!

San Francisco is a great city?  Watch out for all the used needles and feces on the ground. Have fun watching all the homeless drug addicts wander around.

What a day!  Sue tripped on a pile of used needles and fell into a steaming pile of human feces.  For whatever reason this didn’t deter the group of homeless men that quickly descended on her.

On the bright side, I didn’t have to share the Ghirardelli sundae that followed.

Ha,  you are now about to go under the Golden Gate.  Enjoy the rest of the cruise!

and our daughter, who is on the ship, along with a large group doing a conference, said they are having a great time. She said the worst, but almost the most fun is listening to the few who are constantly at guest services bitching. Like is what we make of it. Sometimes we have to live with disappointment. The problem with this cruise happens to be, there is no other option. It is do the itinerary they have chosen or sail out to sea for 7 days. When doing the Caribbean the ship can sail and skirt around the storms.

Doug thanks again for keeping it in perspective and funny!

Way too many get their panties in a bunch.
