Where to go for jazz

Looking for recommendations for a bar wit some live jazz , something with some real New Orleans soul

Frenchman Street in the Faubourg Marigny features a number of venues offering live music nightly.  If you take the Riverfront streetcar to the last stop (French Market Station) and walk a couple of blocks Northwest on Esplanade you will see the start of Frenchman Street on your right.  As you walk North on Frenchman there are nightclubs and bars on both sides of the street.  This is truly a slice of New Orleans history that should not be missed.

Do note that while Preservation Hall is wonderful, it is not a bar and does not serve alcohol. It is strictly a concert venue. That said, Preservation Hall Jazz Band (or All Stars) are always a great choice.
