I don't know if it's a policy or directive but basically Miami told them to quit wasting money. They were giving away too many bottles of booze and were told to stop.

That seems like a very shortsighted decision as a bottle of booze costs them next to nothing!  Pat (Island Lady) said it well in an earlier post - the Top Tier party is a great PR opportunity for RCL.  The party has always been well attended on the short cruises, no matter which ship.  People enjoy seeing the Top Cruisers acknowledged and hearing what's new from the Officers.

As far as the Captain's Table, again a simple way to reward loyalty or show appreciation for someone booking a suite.  Certainly something for guests to look forward to.

It will be interesting to see how well a larger ship like the Mariner does.

Shes a beautiful ship, don’t let this stop you from booking this beautiful queen. Things happen and sadly John & Laura are in the things happen catagory of their cruise. 😀

Oh, I won't let it stop me! I'm pretty much a glass half full kind of girl. Now, DH, on the other hand, is more a glass half empty type. The simple solution is to not show him the review, or at least not show him any problems. What he doesn't know about he doesn't worry about. :classic_biggrin:  We managed to have a great time on our Oasis cruise two weeks after DH broke his collarbone pretty badly, so I don't think the kind of problems John & Laura have been having will stop us.

I just need to figure out when I can fit it into our schedule.

We were on last weekend and can confirm that there is definitely no longer a Top Tier party on 3 night weekend cruises.  We chatted about it with both Anastasia, the LA on board, and Perla in the CL.  They said it is the Miami policy.  No more Wacky Seagull party either!

Although any cruise is better than being at work, we were very underwhelmed and probably won't book any more EN cruises.  Actually, we didn't book the EN, we booked MJ for last weekend, January, and February and were switched.

We found that around the ship, the upper level officers were pretty much invisible.  Our MDR table was a two-top next to the Captain's table.  We saw no activity there and our waitstaff said there hasn't been a dinner at that table in at least 3 months.  Clunis Daley is the HD and we have had dinner with him before at the Captain's Table on AD, so not sure if this is also a Miami policy or what.

We also found the entire ship was cool!  I'm rarely cold anymore so I'm not complaining!  😁  The AC in our room worked really well!  We actually had to turn it down once.  I can't remember the last time that happened!

We got off EN last Monday after a B2B. I enumerated most of your concerns in both of our surveys. Indeed there was a distinct absence of Senior officers in the DL and Cl.  Also, we never saw the Loyalty Ambassador!

The 4 night was definitely better than the 3 night from a general enjoyment standpoint.  The crew overall did a fantastic job as well as the CD's folks but there was a lack of enthusiasm from the senior officers compared to what we have experienced previously from HDs and F&Bs.

We also thought the crew and CD's staff did a fantastic job!  The entertainment was surprisingly good!  We skipped the show the first night but then after seeing how good it was the second and third nights, we were sorry we didn't go.  No Love & Marriage Game Show though which was surprising!

Thanks...and you stated it perfectly.  It's a shame RCI is getting rid of this PR event that used to show their C&A members, their most loyal customers, ....that they are appreciated.  As well as perk interest in new members just joining.  Indeed which was held at such a minimal cost.  The short cruises are more likely to have new passengers, who are just getting their feet wet to cruising.  RCI is missing out by not reaching out to these new members to promote the Loyalty program.

This show looks pretty good.

They only did one number.  Unfortunately with all the cabin issues we never made the full production show.

Some more pics from welcome aboard.

Back to the 'No Longer Live' review.

Let me run through the rest of the AC story.

Apparently while we were off the ship in Freeport Maintenance came back and fiddled with the units.  They told our cabin steward it was fixed.  It felt like one was blowing cold and one was doing nothing.  The cabin was still warm,  so I appreciated the cool air.  Headed up to lounge around 5:00.  AC still running full speed so i turned t-stat to neutral and left.

Back to cabin around 8:00 and it was the proverbial meat locker.  Turned heat all the way up and waited for a change.  Laura took a pill and went to bed.  30 minutes later nothing has changed.  I went to locate cabin steward to report the issue, but requested no one come until tomorrow morning.

30 minutes later still full speed on AC.  Put on a long sleeve T and socks went to sleep.  Laura woke me at 2am to tell me its freezing.  I said yep and rolled over.

Cont..

We both got up at 5am.  I called Front desk and asked to be first in line when maintenance guys came on duty.  They said someone could come now.  I said great.  They showed up in 10 minutes.  More messing around, and he manually closed the damper and removed a lever that moves the dampers from cold to warm. Said it was broke.  Pretty sure that didn't break in the last 18 hours.

Said they'd be back soon.  We left in search of coffee.  Apparently soon is 4 hours.  New guy shows up with entire damper control assembly.  He replaced it then checked wiring to make sure the two units were in sync with controller.  They weren't. Took about an hour. He then showed me how the dampers work and how they move in tandem when properly wired. Very interesting.

Here are pics from Sunday morning.

T-stat in neutral position,  30 is hot and 5 is cold.  Newer ships seem to use red and blue.

New damper assembly.  The broken part was the one marked H and C

Just after the technician showed me the repairs, Laura called from CL and said Perla had an FCC for us, and dinner at Chops.  I said to thank her and I'd be up shortly.  I then got a call from front desk telling me the same.   I thanked the Technician and asked that he contact housekeepers to vacuum the room and headed to the CL.

Full disclosure on Chops.  We had asked Perla this morning if she could arrange that our BOGO coupon for first two nights could be used on the third night.  She said she would have to ask as that was controlled by the computers.  We fully expected to pay full price less the BOGO

One last thing on the FCC.  When GSM spike with me and made the 'offer', she asked if I would accept it and was the amount appropriate?  I said yes, it was very generous.  I probably could have asked for more, but I didn't.  Ship happens.

To tell the truth, I'm really not sure how much it is anyway.  It's a percentage of what I paid for this cabin.  Not sure how the casino credit is going to work into the equation.  Should know next week.

Our Chops bill was $47 after the BOGO, which is the most we have ever paid!  I hope you guys enjoyed your dinner as you certainly deserved a nice evening after the AC debacle!

John was LaLa able to get Berlinger White Zin in CL?  Several ships say they no longer have it on board, substituting Beach Kite Rose!!  Taste like gasoline!!

Carla

Yes, no problem.  The only alternate I've see so far is the stuff from Mariner repo.

@perfect match wanted some cabin pics.  Couple of comments first. Tons of storage, but no walk in closets.  Did not use half of the shelves and drawers.  Bathroom vanity was small, but tub was nice.  Lots of headroom, and the side walls were easy to step over.

Balcony was massive,  that's why you book these.  Walk to elevator wasn't to awful. Great cabin steward. Cold fridge. Bed was comfy,  furniture a little long in the tooth.  Sofa was great.  Easy to stretch out on.  Did not open it as a bed, meant to.  One nightstand bigger than the other. That was a surprise.

@xpcdoojk  I'll never tease you again.

Let's discuss Freeport.  Cute stop, lots of trinket shops.  People generally laid back, way different than Nassau.  We spent about an hour off the ship.  Met some pirates, noticed an abundance of surface rust on the ship. Really dont recall what others did as far as leaving port area.  Large staging area for excursions.  Lots of folks lined up.

John, thank you for all the cabin pictures! Now that it seems like you have managed to get someone who could finally get the AC fixed, I think we would enjoy sailing in this room! :classic_biggrin:

Now that Thanksgiving at our house is behind us, I need to see when I can fit Enchantment into our scheduls.
