Shower Chair

Anybody know if HAL has shower chairs?  Knee surgery a few weeks before cruise.  Don't know if he will need it but nice to know.

I have seen them on previous cruises - you can call ahead, or your room steward will get one for you.

Yes -- HAL has them.

 

However I couldn't use it as I could not get into the tub -- too high for me.  And it didn't fit into the shower in the Neptune suite.

I got a shower chair once but the legs were too wide to fit in the tub.  I tried to put two legs outside the tub but to no avail.  Oh well.

We've had shower stools on a couple of occasions.  Once was in an HA cabin; it was attached to the wall and folded down.  On our last cruise, our PCC requested it and it was in the tub when we boarded.  

 

Is it it possible to change cabins to an HA cabin for your cruise?  Then you don't need to deal with the high sided tub.

We just sailed on the Eurodam, cabin 4131.

This is classified as a handicapped accessible verandah cabin.

There is no bathtub but a shower with a chair that folds down from the wall if needed.

No steps as there are drains on the floor for the water. We didn't have any problems with water getting on to the main part of the washroom.

Lots of bars to grip on to in the shower and by the toilet.

The chairs should fit fine in the showers of the Koningsdam and N. Amsterdam.  Those showers are quite spacious.

If you know you will need an HC cabin..call and try to change it now!  Or, bring what you need....there are no guarantees about HC aids...
