So sad to read about the passing of Captain Gavakis. Our very first cruise was with Captain Gavakis on the S/S Dolphin...we have so many fun memories of that trip...that cruise began what has turned out to be a lifelong love of cruising.

 

Our deepest sympathy and heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of Captain Gavakis.

Sad news indeed.  Thank you for posting.

We had the honor of having dinner with Captain Gavakis in 2000, onboard the Regal Empress.  It was one of the nicest evenings of all our cruising years.  We enjoyed his genial manner as our host, his vast knowledge of ships, and his appreciation of those ships.
