From the same cabin type on the same sailing? The lower end cabin type usually have similar bid mins.

We have Oasis an Harmony booked a month apart coming up.

For my Oasis we are in an OV balcony. The min for Ultra Spacious Balcony is $150 pp

For Harmony we have an OV all the way up front. The min for Ultra Spacious Balcony is $300 pp

Same cruise in an Obstructed Balcony on Deck 6. My travel partner got an offer and can log in, but I can't with my name.

GS w/Large Balcony - 1br $260pp

GS - 1br $230pp

JS - $120pp

Large OV Balcony - $60pp

OV Balcony - $50pp

I'm tempted on the JS but the lack of double points kills it for me. GS isn't worth it since it's only 2 of us, no 2x points, and don't need the space.

Go for it, that GS will get you into CK and the Concierge Lounge

I know what you mean about the JS, we had a similar price from balcony to JS on Indy last year and it seemed a waste of money without the points. You would get dinner in CK on Quantum though.

For us the GS was too cheap not to try (I bid £100 pp) and we've never had a Sky loft so couldn't resist that one. I'm expecting we'll still end up in our JS though.

The rates change but I don’t think the room options do.

Funny thing is is that the rate I paid was around $600 pp for the balcony so if I were to bid they would be fantastic prices.

last year we received an offer on 1/21 and then 2/22. The bid minimums went up but they also added 2 categories not previously sent.

I have quickly noticed our "flavor of the month" here in PC is a lot more expensive all the way around than Oasis was.  😞

Possibly, but keep in mind that my example only showed that the cost to go to the ultra spacious balcony was more expensive when my original cabin was an OV no balcony

Cruised in a GS on Harmony last month, cabin was same location, same deck, and same time of the year as Oasis GS the year before.  Was almost 2K more.  😮

Just got my invite for March 1st Liberty. Last year I went on 3 cruises and all bids I made were declined. But, hope springs eternal.

Usually travel in JS, and bid on GS. Always make a moderate bid...but I always see GS is booked and not available. So I am counting on someone cancelling.
Anyone have luck with bidding on GS?

I asked my ta who asked RCI why they send out offers for cruises that show as being sold out. the answer was that RCI keeps some cabins in inventory so they can get people to bid on them. In other words, the ship may be sold out if you want to book on line, but they have set aside cabins to offer for bid.

Sounds like a curious business model - surely an outright sale of an in demand cabin would bring in more cash than an upgrade bid (and then reselling the cheaper cabin).

Especially when a chunk of the upgrade cost goes to the marketing company who runs this😉

I’ve found that a lot of the time the reps just make up an answer knowing that you don’t know what the right answer is.

Sometimes I wonder if some people here and on FB do the same.🤔

We are sailing on January 20th, 2020 aboard Serenade of the Seas for 11 days.  We had booked an inside room on deck 8 originally.  The cruise had been showing sold out for a couple weeks now.  We just got a Royal Up email with offers of an Ocean View, Ocean View Balcony and a Large Ocean View Balcony.  Crossing fingers one of our bids will be accepted but still happy with our original booking.

Not much difference between OV balcony and Large OV balcony

sailing on NOS 1/24 in an ocean view balcony room.  Got the royal up offer to bid the following. I am totally content in the room we have given it's such a short trip (3 nights) but I did bid the minimum on all just for the heck of it.

Grand Suite - 2 Bedroom

$355 USD per guest

Grand Suite

$200 USD per guest

Junior Suite

$100 USD per guest

Spacious Ocean View Balcony

$50 USD per guest

Update:  was just notified that my offer on the grand suite was accepted.  Definitely didn't see that one coming!

We never got an email but went to the site and were able to put a minimum bid of 30 PP to upgrade from an interior to a Promenade interior on the Adventure 8 night. Doubt we will get it, but if we do it is worth a shot at 3.75 PP PD extra. That would still keep our room cost to under 100 PP PD for this cruise with the soda package included. Ignoring the taxes though;)

Is it common for bids to be available and not get an email?

Wow!!!! It’s 19 days out and I just got an email that my bid for a Sky Loft Suite was accepted. We were in an Owners Suite and now I’m getting a Sky Loft for about $7000.00 less than the price to purchase it. I’m still pinching myself!!!! Our last cruise in the Mediterranean we had a Sky Loft I purchased before they added all the new perks and upped the prices so I got a lucky deal on that one too. So excited for all the perks and the Genie!!!!
