Now, they're just figuring out what is the best "Financial" decision for them. I think they are waiting closer to sail dates. If somebody books and pays the full fare would be better for the cruise line. If I truly wanted the upgrade, I would increase my bid on those suites. The fact that our Jan Oasis cruise fare isn't due until 30 days before sail date- makes me think they are waiting for more people who might pay retail. The lesser cabins are certainly more available, and those would be the one's they would release first.

Cedarkins Posted October 3, 2021 #5378 Share Posted October 3, 2021 First time Royal Up bidder. I bid on 6 cabins about a month prior to sailing. 10 days before sail, one cabin remains pending, and 5 turn to expired. I can’t modify anything. I’d read this is likely “good news.” No charge, no email. Fast forward to 2 days before sailing, the 5 expired rooms go back to pending, and the 1 I thought I got changed to unavailable (also no longer shows as option to book). They can all be modified again. I’m thinking I was penciled in for the one type but it sold. But now it’s night before cruise and I’ve heard nothing. Everything shows pending and can be modified no charges no email. There was tons of availability of these cabins I bid on just before they took the cruise offline today and I bid over minimum. I’m so confused 🤔 has anyone seen this? It almost seems like after what I think I was penciled in for sold they haven’t gone back to even look at my bids? 🤷♀️

You are confused because you are reading way too much into the details of Royal Up which virtually no one can really say how it works exactly. Look for the denial email sometime after sail away today.

donny_dc Posted October 4, 2021 #5381 Share Posted October 4, 2021 Finally the wait paid off, I got the upgrade from Balcony GTY to 2 BR Grand Suites for USD850 per person, I am not sure whether I bid too much or not. I bid USD 200 pp for JS, USD 400 for GS, USD 500 for 1BR GS with Large Balcony. Anyway I'm happy to get this suite since my 2 daughters can be together with us in the same stateroom. What will happen to the other unused stateroom? Can I get a refund for it? Please advise me. Thank you

That's what this sounds like. If they are in a separate cabin, they are not part of the Royal UP. To add them to your 2 bedroom GS, you would have to reprice your cabin at today's prices for the 3rd and 4th person price, before canceling their cabin. And are you in the US, or elsewhere? If elsewhere, the rules may be different. Edited October 4, 2021 by barbeyg

Now you can go get extra key cards and the only person that might possibly know there are extra people in the room is the stateroom attendant, and they might not even know or care. If the suite benefits are important to you then you will have issues with your girls not being officially in your suite.

I have 1388 on the Adventure and I will only give that up for a GS. Loved that cabin! I had that exact on in Dec. 2019. It'd take a fair bit to get me to give it up. $240 on a GS would probably do it though 🙂

They do not have to stay there and can stay with you. It’s easy to get an extra key (or two) from guest services. Depending on their age, the suite lounge will not have a problem with them coming in or being with you in any gold card areas. When we travel in a suite, we put the kids on an inside across the hall and it all works out. RoyalUp from a balcony to a suite will not change the crown and anchor points awarded. It will still be at the initial purchased class. So that part doesn’t matter. loved the 2 room suite! Enjoy! noitsnotatuba Posted October 4, 2021 #5387 Share Posted October 4, 2021 (edited) For those of you interested in timing, here's my experience for our Allure sailing next week. Sailing 10/10, originally in a GS. About a week and a half ago, my ability to modify or cancel disappeared. We had 2 bids in, one for a 1 bedroom Aquatheater suite that still showed pending, and another for a 2 bedroom GS that showed expired. Today (6 days out from sailing) we got the email that our Aquatheater suite bid was accepted. I got the email before I noticed the room change (and I have been obsessively checking). I have not noticed the hit on our credit card yet. Yaaaaay Aquatheater suite! Edited October 4, 2021 by noitsnotatuba

I have been wondering about the timing so thanks for posting. Seems like your bids changed about 16 or so days out, so I guess I have a few more days or so if I am lucky. At least if something goes to expired then I know most likely we are not getting it and can move on, although I have read some odd stories. sandebeach Posted October 4, 2021 #5390 Share Posted October 4, 2021 Doing a B2B on Symphony, leaving Saturday, first week in a GS and 2nd week in a CLS. Have bids in for both legs. Last Monday all bids showed up as Expired for first leg, except for OS, which said Pending. I just received the email that we got the OS. This AM I upped our bid for a 2-bedroom Aqua theater suite for the second leg. I had a bid in for the Aqua and also for the Star Loft. Just noticed now that my Star Loft bid says expired while my Aqua theater still says Pending, so perhaps will get that for the 2nd leg. Will just have to wait and see once on board!

Machta Posted October 5, 2021 #5393 Share Posted October 5, 2021 We are sailing on the Ovation on Saturday. I paid for a Junior Suite with large balcony and bid on everything. Last Tuesday (6 days ago, 11 days from sailing) my bids locked and Sky Loft said pending for $1320 each. This morning I received the confirmation email and my card was charged. Now, looking at the forecast, it’s time to go find all my gore-Tex clothes …

For the 2 bed grand suite, the minimum was $200pp and that's what we bid. For the 1 bed ATS, the minimum was $500pp and we bid $700pp. We actually originally bid $1000pp and lowered it...glad I did since the lower bid was accepted! coaster Posted October 5, 2021 #5396 Share Posted October 5, 2021 RoyalUP seems to be restricted to certain ships now. Log in manually and it says we are not within 30 days out of our cruise on Serenade leaving Tampa on October 30th of this month. First time I have never seen the option to RoyalUP. I lowered my bid on Celebrity penthouse and got it still lots of money, have bid on 2 bedrooms grand suite and 2 bedrooms aqua suite on Allure, it just the two of us but like the bigger suite and extra bathroom. In a GS now bid 500 for 2 bedrooms GS and 2k per for aqua.

barbeyg Posted October 6, 2021 #5400 Share Posted October 6, 2021 Just got Royal Up offers for the 12/5 sailing of Oasis. RCI is raising it's prices on the Royal Ups, so bookings must be looking up. 🙂 We might bid because we could drop our internet plan, plus would downgrade from the UDP to a couple of nights in specialty dining. But, will have to think about it a while first. We are currently in a JS, on deck 8, mid-hump. The range of prices: 1Bdr GS, from $300 pp 2 Bdr GS, from $450 pp OS, from $600 pp CLS, from $600 pp Aquatheater 1 Bdr, from $900 pp Ultimate Panoramic Ste, from $1200 pp (star) Aquatheater 2 Bdr, from $1300 pp (star) Star Loft, from $1700 pp (star) Grand Panoramic, from $2800 pp (star) Owners Panoramic, from $5000 pp (star) Royal Loft, from $5000 pp (star)
