RoyalUP? (Bid for stateroom upgrade)

I received one for our March 3, 2019 Harmony sailing.  We are originally booked in Ocean View Balcony.  I had called this weekend to upgrade to a JS and it would have been $2200 based on the great rate I originally got through a casino offer.  It is my husband, my 11 yo daughter and I.

The Royal Up options are:

JS $300 per person

GS $700 per person

OS $1,100 per person

CLS $1,100 per person

A1 $1,400 per person

A2 $1,600 per person

Does RC have a new bidding program for upgrades? Can someone please explain? I know they have "no"

trouble filling the ships. Look around. You would think wait listing works.  I'm not sure if RC should use that as away to get more of my money. Sounds a bit like they are once again doing a nickel and dime program. We are loyal to royal and diamond members. This sounds cheesy on their part. What's next... Bidding to keep your reservation or get booted? Good grief!

Most cruisers don't want to wait until the cruise date to know their stateroom number.

Interesting that the A1 is lower than the A2

It looks like the A1 is one bedroom and the A2 is bigger with 2 bedrooms.    What I don't understand is when I go to do a mock booking the only thing they have available is  Junior Suite, Crown Loft Suite and Sky Loft Suite, but they have the options for all of these other room types.

Pretty sure numbers go backwards.  3 and 4 are the 1 bedrooms

For winning bids check email 24 hours before cruise to see if bid was accepted.

You won’t know until last minute.

The process did say "at least 24 hours".  So, I would assume it could be sooner.  We will have to wait and see how it plays out over time.  There are a lot of people who don't want to wait that late to find out their cabin.

So, if I bid to change from a balcony to a sky or star class suite, do I get the benefits of the suite (free internet, drink package, meal package, Coastal Kitchen, priority debarkation, etc.)?  I guess the devil will be in the details...

On NCL you take the perks you already have with you.  You get no more.

Hi

Will the option to bid email come to you even if you booked through a travel agent?

Or does it go to the agent and they have to bid for you?

Thank you

Noreen

On NCL, some agencies do not participate in bidding.  You will either get an email or go right to RC website and you will see the option to bid.

Is it even RCL that is deciding who wins or is it a marketing firm?  If it's a marketing firm they might now have access to people;s C and A status in order to determine who might win if there are ties which I would think is going to happen

I assume Plusgrade has some extensive access to the RCI database to make this work and to further cut costs a lot of this is automated - they and RCI probably worked out a deal on levels, ties and other issues.

For anyone bidding, is fractional amounts allowed, like bids ending in .01?

We are booked through a TA and just got the UPgrade email.

That would be because they will be moving people out of those staterooms when they win their bid, therefore making their cabin available for your bid.

Just got an email for our January Freedom cruise. We are currently in a balcony and the starting bids are:

Royal Suite $1,000+

Villa Suite $700+

Owner's Suite $450+

Grand Suite $350+

Junior Suite $200+

Panoramic Suite $150+

To raise the odds to "Fair" from "Weak" it's:

Royal Suite $2,425+

Villa Suite $1,800+

Owner's Suite $780+

Grand Suite $540+

Junior Suite $435+

Panoramic Suite $365+

And to get "Strong":

Royal Suite $3,190+

Villa Suite $2,390+

Owner's Suite $960+

Grand Suite $640+

Junior Suite $560+

Panoramic Suite $480+

All prices per person.

Undecided if we'll try for anything or not, probably won't go much higher than the lowest possible. We won this cruise in a raffle so weren't really planning on spending anything

My slider would only move in $10 increments.  You can't enter a specific bid.
