For the birds

I don't know how folks get such great pictures of flying birds.  When I was in Alaska this year I did get a few decent shots but nothing like some of the photos posted in this thread.  Not knowing where or when eagles would appear presented the greatest challenge.  That and focusing.

I was out on the wetlands yesterday, and saw this kestrel fly in, then hover. Unfortunately, tail towards me. A bit high, but pretty.

Then it saw some prey and just plummeted. Better buy all those new cameras to find one that will re-focus quickly enough

Was that taken in the wild ?

Not at all, next to a path that people walk along which they were not disturbed by (until someone's on-leash dog got a little too interested for their comfort and the flew off (probably to return later ...)

Our son used to have a Nanday Conure that would laugh . Some of them must have gotten loose because we saw a flock of them that would fly together a few times . They can be noisy !

Very nice , is it Spring there ? That's our favorite time for birding .

Yes, spring officially starts here on 1 September.

As with spring, yesterday was beautiful, warm, sunny, gentle breeze.

Just woke up, rainy, windy, cooler.

Spring is a lovely time of year, mostly.
