Live from Nieuw Statendam Premier Voyage, December 2018

Recommended Posts

Welcome to Ft. Lauderdale, everyone!  I watched her sail in, and she is magnificent, even in the dark!

Safe travels to you all and Bon Voyage to the lucky ones who are staying onboard!  See you VERY soon!

We are docked! It’s still dark. It it’s nice to see lights of the city after seeing nothing but water for 8 days!

its been great fun to post on this journey of the Nieuw  Statendam for her inaugural sailing. The ship is indeed very beautiful and rides like a dream, although we had fabulous weather and very calm seas overall.

I am disembarking today to fly home to California. January 2 I will be back here to board the Prinsendam for her 80-day Grand South America and Antarctica voyage. Looking to spend a wonderful Christmas with my family before leaving them for three months again!

Thanks Ann, for being a great thread partner and thanks to everyone for coming along with us on our thread!!

Someone asked Tim if there is a chime man on board playing the little musical instrument to announce dinner, like on the other HAL ships.

There is not!!!  ☹️☹️☹️☹️

It was great meeting everyone on this very special trip across the pond.

Although we had some minor hiccups along the way, ( I just got charged for my 2nd free PG dinner last evening- already got it corrected) it was a great time.

Safe travels to all and Merry Christmas and Happy New Year .Until we meet again on another DAM ship.

Kathy

No Yum-yum man and no yum-Yums.  I believe they are both boarding in Fort Lauderdale.

I thought key lime pie was green? .....

Hi Cu

The juice of a Key lime (from FL) is yellow.

A green Key lime pie is a fraud.

" The Key lime is a citrus hybrid with a spherical fruit, 2.5–5 cm in diameter. The Key lime is usually picked while it is still green but it becomes yellow when ripe. It is smaller and seedier, with a higher acidity, a stronger aroma, and a thinner rind, than that of the Persian lime".   Wikipedia
