Edge Sunset Aft Cabins

Does anyone know what the gaps/white areas are on the sunset aft cabins on decks 7 - 12. It shows up on the deck plans, but I can't find any info on it. I know on some ships this area means that there is a little bit bigger balcony for one of the cabins.

If you mean the white gap between every two cabins? If so, that is a firewall, unless I am looking at a different deck plan. 🙂

I saw it on cruise deck plans and Celebrities deck plans. The spaces are on either side of the 2 middle sunset view aft cabins. I don't think it's a fire wall because the port and starboard side cabins don't have the same spaces. Also, I don't think I have ever seen deck plans with the fire walls showing.

9147 and 9149, 8229 and 8231 and many other cabins have the white strip between them on the deck plans (albeit narrower) and they match perfectly with the firewalls in the actual pictures of the ship. I was in an aft S1 and toured an SV connected to another SV so saw one of the firewalls. I think that is what the white strips are - there was no extra balcony, though the balconies were big for a non-suite!🙂

Hi Vt

Can you point out where the outdoor speakers are that could impact sound in our middle Deck 7 SV, just above EDEN restaurant?

I assume the big EDEN show wraps up after midnight, with  lots of loud stuff going on.   We turn in before that to enjoy our cabin and balcony.,.stars are usually great in the night sky.,,,We are early risers and want to enjoy sunrise from the aft so we hope we wil get enough sleep back there!

Hope you are doing great..headed to Fl this weekend..but not yet to EDGE!

The speaker was around the corner from you on the starboard side. It was aimed straight out so not aimed in your direction. I have a feeling they won't continue with that speaker. My  buddy had a cabin on 8 above the speaker and heard the Crescendo screech late at night, with her window closed. She thought the sounds were coming up through the floors until I told her about the speaker. She was going to put that in her review and I'm sure others will as well.

You can see the speaker above the door in the picture below (at least I think that is the speaker that we saw). The other picture shows a window you can see some of the show through while listening to the speaker.

Doing okay, thanks for asking. Will probably see my MD, just to make sure all looks okay.

Lucky you to head back to FL! Safe travels! 🙂

If those are fire walls why aren't they showing by the other cabins?

Can you get a sneak peak at the show.?...is this in the Eden Restaurant or main EDEN AREA,.  I am confused...

If I hear loud music or screeching  late at night I'd call security...we have until Nov for that cabin..Have been watching to move up a bit but  SVs are booked solid!

The show moves around - performers go up and down between the levels (to restaurant on lower level and then back up to the upper level where you can get a peek from that window).

Thanks  That's wild...,So. that whole area will be a no go location for us at night...

Looking for a nice quiet piano bar or lounge... maybe if suite prices go down a bit that might be better for us,...,the retreat  lounge might be quiet????

Ps did your EDGE dinner group meet at top of the ramp for  group escort in to dinner?

The Retreat is very quiet at night (or at least it was when I was in there in the evening).

The Eden dinner was staggered so people seemed to come every 15 minutes or so (ours was at 9:15). We went to the hostess station and then were escorted to the bar for some sort of potion where a nymph had a staring contest with my DH while we sipped our potions. We were then brought to our table.  The characters wander through and interact a bit before the show starts. The show goes from the upper level to swinging/singing from the ceiling in the restaurant to some acrobatics done in the restaurant and then back upstairs. When you are done eating you can go upstairs because that is where most of the action is going on by that time. I thought we saw the Crescendo but I guess not, since I didn't hear the scream that happens, I found out later. Oh well, maybe next time. 😉

Look closely at the deck plans, on deck 8, for example. There are thin white spaces between some cabins at regular intervals. From stern to bow, I count five firewalls, in addition to the ones between the aft cabins & the ones at the bow.

Gosh..too odd for us...   we would not like to party with with nymphs or swinging creatures!

Hoping the 7th deck SV will not be a poor choice! Is the top,of the ramp used as a waiting area ?

Are you going to book EDEN again? We will check out the Club when we cruise but will pass on EDEN show.

Thanks to the ones who said it was a fire wall. I didn't see the white areas on the port and starboard sides. Guess I should have enlarged my phone screen to see those better.

Hcat you might want to start your own thread about speakers, doctors, shows, Eden, etc since I was getting notifications that wasn't even related to my question.

Sorry.. ..the topic  heading was  EDGE Sunset Aft Cabins...so I interpreted that more broadly .

Now that your question  and mine were answered,  maybe  we can expand to include everything about these cabins.  They are unique....and there may be other questions or folks who can post photos...

Well, I just booked one(Sunset Veranda on deck 11) of those for Europe 2020, as the suites were rediculous!  I guess those prices put me "over the Edge."  If my TA isn't what I want, then that cruise may not happen...it is so far away...

Nice! If we book Apex/Edge for 2020, we will likely also go for an SV.  We will likely book something a few days into our Jan Edge cruise after seeing how the music/entertainment has evolved. We would be happy in an SV on one of those ships (the MDRs are great and my DH loves the lap pool and the pool deck/Solarium are nice, so don't need a suite), as long as we regularly have music to our taste - a deal breaker for us. 😊

Marilyn, I know that you were a few cabins from where I currently am now--you were in a SV on deck 11 and we are just about three doors down in an IV.  Did you experience much in the way of vibration in your SV?  We always book aft cabins or SVs on Celebrity and vibration has never been an issue.  This is not the case on the Edge.  Our cabin has been vibrating/shaking fairly strongly ever since we set sail.  It is really putting a damper on things, especially given the pricing for the Edge.  I have called and visited guest relations, but it is unclear what they could do.  They say the ship is completely sold out. My computer is shaking strongly as I write this!  Would love to hear if you or any one else has experienced these problems.  Thank you!

No, that is strange. We were in 11268 corner aft and never felt any vibration that I can remember (if if were persistent, I would remember because that would annoy me). That was the quietest cabin we had of the three.  We even commented a few times about how smoothly the ship sailed and that we didn't even know when we were moving sometimes.

I'm sorry that you are going through that - I hope they will do something for you. It doesn't sound pleasant.

If you have time, please post on the cabin review thread so that others will know.

I hope it resolves soon!!

Thank you for the quick response Marilyn.  I have always had very smooth experiences on Celebrity as well.  This is NOTHING like I have ever experienced before.  There has never been a break in the vibration since we set sail--the strength changes a bit, but that is all.  I am sitting on the bed with my computer on my lab, and I can see my computer visibly shaking.  It will be surprising to me if they find a way to resolve this.  I suppose I submit a comment card as well as I have not heard anything back from my call and visit.  I will definitely post a review of the cabin after I determine whether it can be resolved.  I would not want anyone else to have to deal with this if they could avoid it.  Very sad as otherwise the cabin is quite nice and even though I was afraid it would not be the case this time, I still love the bed by the balcony--although perhaps that setup is what makes the shaking more noticeable as the bed is awful in that regard.

Wow....sorry to hear this,  there were some early mentions of Vibration issues but nothing too specific.  Odd there would be vibration so high up.. Do you have a cabin across from you or some type of machinery or the stack?  How is it in your Enclosed Veranda?

As Vt suggested, please do the sticky on EDGE threads and also post a quick alert on the reg Celeb board under topic  Edge Cabins with serious issues,,I thimk that's the titke.,

Hope things improve,,

You may need to go up the food chain (? Hotel Manager should come and see for himself or herself).  I'm not one to complain much, but that sounds difficult to take for 7 days. If they do have an extra cabin or two for issues, they will go to the squeakiest wheel. If not, there may be some sort of compensation to make it more palatable.

Sorry you have to deal with this on your long-awaited vacation....

Thank you so much rhodgewald for bringing this to attention on here.  Though I am not sailing until 2020 in an SV, it would still be nice to know the cabin number and if any other SV’s are having the same issue.  I was actually on that cruise, but am on the TA in April(Marilyn’s cabin)so I would also be able to ask others too.  You should not have to go an entire cruise without some compensation or remedy to the issue. Please come back and let us know...I hope you can still enjoy most of your cruise, but it does not sound like you can sleep with all that shaking.

Hi Marilyn!

Hopefully, they fix the issues  by the time Apex is finished.  I almost booked her to Norway, but there were so few ports.  I love the Adriatic, and we wanted to do another cruise there, so Edge was it again.  Yes, I think the MDR’s look wonderful too. I received the classic bev. pkg so far from Celebrity, but will transfer for more perks.  Let me know how you do, as it should be better.

How is your head from the fall?

Vibration update--by lunch time today, the issue was resolved.  Since then, the cabin has been like what I have been used to on past X cruises.  I spoke to another woman who was on deck 8 and she had the same issue and was able to move Sunday night.  Unfortunately, it is unclear what caused the issue--rougher seas or a ship-related problem.  Will be interesting to see if the problem recurs when we leave Puerto Rico tomorrow night. I will post on the cabin review thread at the end of the cruise.  Hoping that this was just an anomaly.
