Waterslides

We just sailed on the Sunshine and although the waterslides were a blast, they were pretty painful on the back and elbows.  Even the kids got a lot of bruises from them.  Are there tips on how to make the ride down more pleasant?? We were following instructions.  Are all Carnival ships' waterslides like this?

I haven't been on the slides but my kids do complain that it is rough.

I think the slides on Sunshine are the fastest slides on Carnival. From my experience riding lots of water slides, the faster the slide, the rougher it is on the body. The only exception to this is slides that have a straight drop with no curves in them.  Keep in mind I don’t ride slides nearly as much as I did when I was younger, so my experiences might be dated.  The last slides I rode were on Magic several months ago. Both of their slides are on the mild side and easy on the body.

Went on the slide on the carnival elation - seemed fine to me!

Wear a swim shirt. That really helps with the seams on the slide, plus it can help cut down the areas in which you need to put in sunscreen.

But, unfortunately it will greatly slow you down.

Huh, I never thought of it that way. The drainpipe in the Magic (and slides at Volcano Bay at Universal Orlando) seemed fast to me!
