'Twas the Cruise During Christmas - Zuiderdam 2018

All the luggage tags are filled out. Pretty much everything is back on hangers, or rolled/folded and ready to pack. We'll dress for dinner and then come back to the "house" to change before we head out for a final evening of clean, bright entertainments. Michelle still has an espresso martini from the Crow's Nest. I have some pasta with bolognese on mine. I doubt that will happen because we're pretty close to dinner.

This is just a phone photo. I'll scan the menu later, but as my special gift to you, I wanted to upload it right away. Thanks for reminding me. It slipped my mind completely.

I thought for sure that you were on to something with the Feast of the Seven Fishes. It was more like two fishes (barely) and various regular Italian dishes.

Thanks for following up. I was really curious what that special dinner was going to be all about, but guess it was a big plate of nothing.

Sorry your time away is coming to an end, but pleased the posts about it aren't yet!

I'm glad you reminded me. We were intrigued by the prospect of an Italian Christmas dinner. But as you said, 'twas nutting.

Love reading your "Live" posts!   What do/did you do as a professional - you have a way with words.

Thank you. I'm a systems engineer by training and a technology consultant by trade. This is exactly where you expect to find writing skills and humor.

If that..................:classic_ninja:

Every time people wish us a safe trip home, we tell them, "By the time you are putting your shoes and belt back on at the Fort Lauderdale Airport security check point, we'll be home doing laundry and sorting through our mail."

Rather than laugh at at our wit, people begin hitting us about the face and neck with closed fists. I blame the TSA restrictions on liquids. Who has 3.4 ounces of anything? (Sure, it's 100 ml, but that's not how we roll in the States.)

It looks like we're due into terminal 21 this morning, at least according to the the Port Everglades Traffic website. We requested 9:30 departure, putting us into the group, Lime 1. We're meeting Michelle's father at 8:00 for breakfast. So, naturally I woke up at 4:00 am. I tell, I'm just not right.

I see it, my own brother in law does something similar and can tell tales.

Watching Zudi fly by Miami.....Thanks for taking us along for this holiday sleigh ride. If time permits, could you get a snap shot of the mini bar menu and prices. I'm most interested in the prices for bottled water but DW likes the spirits. Of course just in the interest of continued liquid education.

I should be able to do that. I don't have my computer equipment, or as DW calls it, that crap I have everywhere, packed up yet.

Earlier I mentioned that we had a different menu configuration than a normal 10 night Southern Caribbean itinerary. (I'll post all the menus once we're back at Institute of Cheer HQ.) Normally, your two gala night menus are the "silver" and the "gold" menu. We had "silver" on gala night #1, "red" on gala night #2, and "green" on Christmas day. The "green" menu had the surf and turf along with traditional Christmas dinners like turkey and ham. Both the red and the green menus were done in booklet layout. The red and green refer to the menu cover colors.

You know what would be nice? Photos of the menu covers. You know what you're not going to see? Photos of the menu covers. We had two cameras on the table, not counting phones, and still managed not to take a picture of the menu covers. I got figgy pudding pix though!

So, it's 7:20 AM. We're meeting DFIL at 8:00 for breakfast. Michelle is in the shower and two guys show up at the door, telling me that they have instructions to escort us to the BB King lounge. I tell them that we're not packed all the way and DW is in the shower. They tell me that they'll wait.

Michelle thinks that there was a problem with our luggage. I think it's because they really liked this thread. Poohby Joe figures it's autograph seekers.

When we were ready, we went into the hallway. No guys. We knocked on Michelle's dad's door to tell him that we going to report to BB King and that if weren't back by 8, he should go to breakfast. (Possibly start raising bail money.)

Turns out it was a mistake and they had the wrong room number for assisted disembarkation. Kind of a letdown - or a relief, depending on your perspective.

I have really enjoyed reading your thread!  We are on the Zuiderdam three weeks from today and the excitement is building here!  I'm very happy to hear that the BB Kings are great as we are big fans.  We'll likely finish each day listening to them.  I hope the same lead singers are still on board.

And we're back!  Off the ship and through security in about 12 minutes. We had to wait a few minutes for a minivan cab because Michelle's dad came home with us. His flight is not until 1:45 PM and there was no point in having him head directly to the airport. I'm not sure if they restrict you at security based on flight times.  It's been a while since we flew out post cruise.

We're mostly unpacked, and by "we" I mean Michelle has mostly unpacked.  I stay out of the way until called for - because I know what's best for me.

Thanks for the great live thread !

Was wondering about internet limits per day on the packages.  I'm betting somewhere you mentioned it- I went back the re-read and got to page 3 when the ADHD kicked in and I remembered 10 things I needed to do for work today.

So.., were there limits and are the enforced?

Thanks!

Thank you SO MUCH for all your postings.   We'll be on this ship soon for a partial canal cruise, so I hung on every word you posted   🙂        We didn't rent a cabana because we're part of a group, but plan to try to get it for a day or two to give it a try.   I appreciate the info about this, and all the fantastic menus and beverage info.   Thanks!
