On the Allure now... any requests?

Recommended Posts

We are on day 4 and so far this cruise has been exceeding our expectations 😊

Does anyone have any requests? I’ll be posting compasses and adventure ocean compasses. I’ll try and get pictures of food and drink menus too. 😊

Please check if drink cards are available, and if so the cost and what day did they first appear for sale.

I will wave to you as we board on a Sunday.  Glad to hear that everything is good.

I would like to know if comedy shows repeat throughout the cruise or if there are a few different ones?

The shows in the comedy venue are the same two comedians doing largely the same material.

There may be a different (family) show in the main theater.  If so, there are no reservations for this show, it's first come, first served.  Check your Cruise Compass.

If it's not too much trouble the Vintages Drink and Tapas Menus and the Solarium Bistro Dinner Menu would be awesome!

Actually, the main theater Comedy Show is available to book on the Cruise Planner for my upcoming Oasis sailing (in addition to the normal shows in the Comedy Club). It even allows you to book it even if you have a normal comedy show in the club booked.

I appreciate the update, that "family" comedy show was not reservable in the past.  Thanks.

In the evenings, Solarium Bistro becomes the Samba Grille....Brazilian Steakhouse, specialty dining.

Some menus can be found in the RCI app, including the Samba Grill.

It was my mistake just assuming that Allure would be just like the Oasis and have a sitdown dinner menu at Solarium Bistro rather than turning it into a completely different specialty dining concept at night. Should have done my homework before asking.

Yeah, I was asking because of my upcoming trip on the Oasis (assuming not only the Solarium Bistro dinner would be the same, but that the menus of the sister ships would be comparable) and one of the only menus not available in the app is the Solarium Bistro Dinner menu for Oasis. There are two different sample menus on the RCI website, but they are so different from one another I was trying to see which is more accurate.

Hopefully sometime in the next month somebody will do a "I'm on the Oasis right now" thread or posts their menu.

Bob, the comedy show that you can book in the theatre on day 7 is an additional adult comedy show.  On our Allure cruise it is from 10:30 to 11:30 and I could not add the kids.  There is a family comedy show earlier in the evening that does not require reservations.

We ate at Sabor one night (soooo good!) but honestly have only done quick service food at night time. No sit down dinner other than that yet. I can definitely get pictures of the menus though 👍🏼 Long meals just don’t fit well into our days with three little kids.

We saw How to Train your Dragon last night and it was really good. They sell popcorn outside of Studio B it’s 2.50 before gratuity I think. I’ll snap a picture tonight before Ice Games.

We we also saw the Headliner Showtime and they were better comedians than they were jugglers. I’m not a huge fan of juggling acts but the comedy made it worth it. 👍🏼

We we stopped at the Suite Lounge at 7:15pm and then again around 10:30pm. It was so quiet and definitely family friendly up there. Bar service is great, Concierge’s are fun and easy to talk to. They seem to all really enjoy their jobs. I wanted to go down to the Diamond lounge to be able to make a comparison of the two lounges at night( our daytime impression of the Diamond Lounge wasn’t favorable 😖) but after we called Adventure Ocean to check on our littlest, we had to go pick him up instead. He seems to be having a hard time in there at night ( he misses us). So from now on our nights will need to be kid friendly activities 😊

We also went to the 70’s party on the Promenade. It was well attended and a fun  event.

During the day we spent time at the pool and then decided to venture a trip to Maho Beach and watch a few airplanes land. Holy Moly was it crowded! It was definitely worth the time and money($8pp each way) though for the kids to experience it. We have been there before. It’s changed a lot over the years and the hurricane damage is still easy to see 😢 if anyone does the trip over look for taxi driver Edwin (taxi 26) he’s a bit older , tall and thin. He’s a great guy! He was so easy to talk to, very informative about the island. We felt totally at ease with him. It felt like we were on a private tour.

After that we went to the sail away party on the pool deck as the sun was setting. It was so pretty pulling out of port in the dark.

Today we are in San Juan and are staying on the ship. Not sure what our plan are yet 😊

How do you find the quality of the buffet in general ?  Good variety of meats at lunch time ?

We went to windjammer twice so far. The food was good but I don’t know how they dropped the ball on the design of this windjammer. The food station area is SO small and tight and there aren’t nearly as many as other classes of ships. Even the entrance feels like an afterthought.  Tables were super easy to find both times we were there though. (Embarkation and dinner the first night, haven’t been back since)

I feel  like the selection was limited.

The picture is looking in from the pool deck. From the back of one side of windjammer to the front

Did you eat in the MDR?  Was the one closest to the casino as smoky as I've read?

enjoy!!

We have not been to the dining room yet. I’ll update if we do. I feel the casino is a little less smoky than other casinos though.

I was on Allure 2 weeks ago, and I found the Windjammer disappointing. Not a big selection of meats - not many stations setup for dinner. One night, as we were walking in, they had a sign at the entrance stating it was  "Italian Night". Funny thing was .... I didn't see a single Italian feature anywhere in there. I also didn't care for the layout of the stations. The area does not allow for flow of people very well at all.

So I am happy to report windjammer for breakfast today (9:30am while in San Juan ) was great. Still easy to find a table and while the selection wasn’t amazing they had all the basics and I would rate the quality better than other windjammers as far as taste. Even the premade basic omler was something I would choose again.

We have my time dining room reservations. Now for 5:30pm tonight. I’ll get back to you on the smoke if I notice anything 😊
