We are two months away.. I would love to give it away to two other people.. We are talking about a 7k trip here.. Would NCL let us change the names on our cruise? Thank you all for your help!

Ok, what about adding 2 extra people hopefully at minimal cost and then you just don't show up... ooops… 😉  If you don't have anybody in particular in mind... I'd be willing to pay the extra passenger rate... lol... where are we going? 😉

On another cruise line this is possible.  We did it.  (don't ask which one)

The 'no shows' had insurance and got their fare back.

Many, many years ago-2002 we had a  CCL cruise transferred to us. The people who gave it to us had been traveling for 6 weeks and just wanted to be at home. One thing to note is that this was part of a group cruise sponsored by a building supply company, so it was a cruise that had been comped to them, and they paid to upgrad the room to a balcony. It was very last minute-maybe 10 days before the cruse.

Call and ask, maybe they will work with you.

Two months away means a February cruise.   Probably not an issue with capacity and life boats.   That only happens on over capacity cruises and very, very peak times.

I think you have a good possibility of it working.   If they won't let you do a name change for both names then try adding passengers and be no shows.

Ive been on this board for a couple decades.   People talk about doing this occasionally.   It must be possible somehow.

You are assuming that the cabin in question has capacity beyond two and that the lifeboat capacity for that particular muster station has not been reached.

Nope, just thinking with 2 months to go this is still a good possibility but my new BFF better hurry! :classic_biggrin:

ONE original person,  has  to  remain on the booking-   IF they are allowed to make any name change.

This summer,   it was available to be done on the POA   by a friend-   They would have been allowed to change ONE name,  and the remaining person was planning on no showing.    Didn't get any takers,   but,  was approved to change one name,  by NCL.

A friend of ours just did this and  had no problem doing this for our Feb 2019 cruise. It was past final payment ( about 50 days before cruise) so the couple had already paid off their room and decided they did not want to go. So we found another couple who did want to go. The original party called our NCL rep and she was able to switch the names no problem. The  couples had to work out on their own the paying the other couple for the cruise.

If the cruise is paid for, logically, people can be swapped out BUT rules are rules.

Maybe the best would be to call in (or if you used a TA) and speak to their CSR but also escalate to their manager (because you know you will have to bend any rules). Good luck!

I just saw a thing on Facebook where a guy needed to change two names on a group airline reservation when two people couldn't go.

He'd call in every day and change a couple letters on the names claiming it was a spelling error.  Eventually the entire names were changed.  He claimed it worked.

Your mileage may vary, LOL.
