All Inclusive alcohol package

Recommended Posts

We just bought the package for my wife and on for our Liberty cruise in March.  Got it at a 30% off rate, but it was still $759 a week.  If your husband doesn’t drink, I’d suggest just paying as you go and you’ll still come out ahead.

Excuse me? My husband has been straight edge his whole life and is a Captain in the military.

RUDE

Blimey, @alidee12, it was a joke related to having a husband who chooses not to touch alcohol*, hence the smiley at the end.

*which, for the avoidance of doubt, is absolutely fine ofc

Good point. That's also something to think about. We have 5 fairly long port days! It's not like I will drink in the am either. Hmmm....

When we were doing a port intensive Med cruise, we were better off paying as we went...

So I'm doing it both ways.  Recently traveled with a group of 7 and was with others who drink alcohol so it was worth it and I never found myself forced to drink more because I figured it would even out.  Plus a coffee or two and a few bottles of water made it worth it.

In May Hubby and I are doing an anniversary cruise and since he is a big drinker I will tend to drink more.  The week after I will have had my fill of alcohol and the kids will be joining us for that cruise so I'm not getting the alcohol package.  Then in October just 2 of my kids and I are going so I don't see a need for the drink package, just pay as I go if I want alcohol.  If the ship does not have freestyle machines it isn't worth it for me to get the soda because I don't drink coke but do drink the cream sodas they have in those machines.  The more days at sea the more I would naturally drink alcohol.  I will run my numbers before I go and consider bottled water and coffee in addition to the alcohol.

If its the Deluxe package or nothing, the above noted is a key consideration.    A bottle of water runs $3.00, specialty coffees and fresh squeezed OJ cost money.   Then there are the beers and alcohol at $6-$15 per.   Then, for me at least, if I'm close to a worthwhile price, thinking about the "don't have to worry about it" factor, is worth a couple bucks a day.    So consider all the fluids you'll be drinking when you make your assessment.   Its different for everyone.    If it makes sense, get the pkg.   If the refreshment pkg and maybe a drink card makes sense, do that.    A little analysis and the right choice for you will become clear.
