Macao Beach - Punta Cana

Punta Cana is one of our stops in early Feb.  I saw that there is a surfing school at Macao Beach we’d love to try.  Does anyone know how that beach is from where the cruise tenders are?  Would it be a reasonable cab ride?

There are a couple of surfing vendors in Macao Beach.  Supposedly really good surf and easy for newbie's to learn.  Macao is about 40 minutes north of the town of Punta Cana.  Not sure where he tenders pull in at.  But if taxis are similar in fare as in La Romana, I'd say fare would be $15-20 per taxi.
