You are correct .

And Smoking, just like drinking,   is not a freedom or a right .

It is a privilege and as such can be regulated to stop the true right of innocent people not to be harmed … which is why a person is not allowed to drink and drive .

No one has the right to harm another human being .

They say as they continue to kick this thoroughly dead horse.. 🙄

Does anyone know the location of permissible smoking areas on the Nieuw Amsterdam? TIA

Just off the ship.  Smoking on deck 9 aft outside of the Lido, starboard side.  No smoking in the casino.

For the comfort of all of our guests, all staterooms (cabins), showrooms and most other indoor areas are designated non-smoking. No smoking of any kind will be permitted on any stateroom verandah.

Designated Smoking Areas:

Eurodam, Nieuw Amsterdam, Noordam, Oosterdam, Westerdam, Zuiderdam

  • Sea View Bar area

We are going on the Niew Amsterdam in Alaska next year. We are not smokers but think we can get by with only one smoking area on the ship. We might have to avoid the Sea View area but can live with that.

The Seaview bar area (starboard side) is all smoking.  The port side is all non-smoking.  Lots of room.

Hello. Does anyone been on the V-class ship on deck 8/7/6 exactly below sea view bar. Were you able to smell smoking on your balcony? Thanks!

What do you mean by 'V-class' ship?
Are you talking about the Volendam or Zaandam, which are R-class?

No I was talking about  Noordam/Westerdam/Oosterdam. Sorry I am new to the line and may have incorrectly stated ship class

Those three ships, plus the Zuiderdam, are Vista class ships. They are named for the points on a compass: North, West, East, South, in the same order as you & I listed them.

I honestly have never noticed.

I spent considerable time this past winter and secondhand smoke was noticeable most of the time.  From my perspective, the Sea View pool area wasn't useable.

I'm glad it worked for you as a non-smoker.

I am a smoker and we are limited to that one area.

That's fine and I support your right to smoke in any of the approved areas, however perhaps that explains why you may not be as sensitive to secondhand smoke in surrounding areas.

Enjoy your cruise

I'm a non-smoker, and have the same perspective as they do, so your assumption about sensitivity  to secondhand smoke doesn't apply to me. You'll have try another assumption in my case..

Smokers are not limited to that one area; they have free run of the whole ship, just like non-smokers.   Smoking is limited to that one area.

(If only the smoke would stay right in that area.💩)

I’m sure you understood exactly what I was saying.  Next time I’ll use shorter words so it’s clearer.
