I really, really like the hermetically sealed room idea.  A place for the smokers to smoke all they want, with no impact to anyone else!

They are doing that on NCL ships. Unless you happen to walk by at exactly the moment the door opens, you can't smell a thing In the casino. It seems to work.

I've come across a few morons standing there, smoking, with the door open, as they peer inside as if trying to decide to enter or not.   🙄

I'm gonna call you out on that one. There's no way they were doing that from the outside. But please continue with your stories.

I, of course, agree with you.  But it's much too simple, they'll never figure it out.  The amusing part is that smokers would probably pay a daily fee to use the room!

🙄  I presume you know there is a button to open those sliding doors, right? Big green button? And you can stand in the middle of them and look inside when they are open?

Sheesh, I just asked the guy to close the doors, and he went back inside (I assume it was "back" as he was smoking at the time).  But sure, you go ahead and believe what you want to believe.  😉

I'm quite familiar, my friend. I also know that the door closes automatically in about 5 seconds unless you are literally holding it open. I am sure you believe the story you're telling, but I also believe your memory is a bit skewed. Have a wonderful day.

Have you ever seen one though? They are disgusting ugly 🫤I recall not too long ago when some of the airports still had them, before most banned indoor smoking altogether.

Even though they were well occupied most of the time, you usually couldn't see any people inside because the smoke was so thick. It was like the foggiest day you've ever witnessed in your life all the time. 😯

Not to mention the people who came out of those rooms reeked of smoke on their clothes, hair and bodies for hours.😁

The casino smoking rooms on NCL aren't bad. They're quite large and not packed full. HAL would do well to take a look at them. But don't get me started about the cattle car on Deck 8. I can only last about 5 minutes, but there are people who sit there for hours and hours. Unbelievable.

Yes, I've seen them in airports (years back).  Yes, they were very smokey inside, probably because everyone was smoking in there.  And you mention they were "disgusting ugly"...I'm thinking that's also because people were all smoking in there.  How do you go about making that look pretty?

I'm curious if you felt this same way 25 years ago when you were still smoking.

Yes I did. That's why I quit.

Really glad I quit. You just have to have the mindset to change.  So much profound evidence that it will be harmful and now the cost. It’s over $8 a pack now.

$8 a pack! Where I am, one will pay about $30-$40 a pack of 20.

Now that's real incentive to quit.

Yep, USD20-USD30. Camel Blue or Filters are about USD26 a pack(25).

A pack a day habit can, very quickly, add up to the price of a cruise.

@Tom47 And something needs to be done about vaping companies targeting the youth with their marketing.

I agree.  HAL currently allows vaping inside cabins.   Celebrity. our preferred cruise line, does not.  However we have booked a HAL cruise for an Alaska itinerary not offered by Celebrity.
