Flying UA or F9 to/from MIA soon?

Recommended Posts

Beginning this Saturday Jan 12 Concourse G at MIA will be shut after 1 PM each day due to increasing shortages of TSA personnel. Supposedly this is just a three day test but would be shocking if not carried on indefinitely.

Since you already have to walk from G to H to claim your bags when arriving on United my guess is their flights will go to whatever gates are available there.

Frontier has a single dedicated carousel in G so that will have to be relocated somewhere assuming there are any arrivals at those hours.

A few pre-cleared international flights land at G (Aruba Air, Bahamasair)--as well as some not pre-cleared from which those pax already have to march over to Concourse D/E for Customs & Immigration so my further guess is those flights will bunk with the OneWorld carriers that normally use the D/E international gates.

(article misstates Concourse G as a 'Terminal')

All the gates at MIA are controlled by the airport and are not owned/leased by the airlines.  So there is great flexibility depending on schedules and demand.

I would not be as concerned as CNN makes it out to be.  But then, they are busy making this shutdown into a crisis.

They have already said that they will be moving those flights to a different concourse on the affected days.
