POM to MIA could I make a 10:25 am flight on 3/11?

Cruising Empress of the Seas RCCL - - Port of Miami - if I do self disembark and took cab to airport - do you think I could make a 10:25 am American flight?

A Monday morning during peak season.

Eight weeks from now when we have no idea if the TSA workforce at MIA will be back on the payroll or have endured continuing attrition.

You may want to ask on the RCI board if a Cuba cruise scheduled to return at 7:00 allows you to be on the road by 8:15 (at the latest). I've seen some reports that returning from Cuba entails no more difficult ICE processing that other cruises but it would be wise to allow for that possibility.

So know ahead of time which flight you wish to be rebooked on if you try and fail.

For a 10:25 flight you need to be at the airport by 9:00 as earlier is better with standard TEA chaos.  On a Monday the drive from POM to MIA will take longer than the normal 15-20 min.  As Fishy says above, if you can be off the ship, with bags, and clear of customs and immigration by 8:15 or earlier then you should make it.

Do you want to worry about making your flight home while you cruise? :classic_wacko:  I would choose a flight leaving about noon but it is your call.

Too many issues could cause missing such an early flight. Catch a later one and enjoy the cruise.

Very good move. Two recent experiences from POM Jan.5

1) Bliss didn't dock until 9:30 due to an 8 year old who went into Cardiac Arrest and ship returned to Bahamas night before. It wasn't safe to airlift him from ship. Fortunately the kid is OK.

      Disembarkation didn't start until 10:00 a.m. On the 5th.

2) TSA at Miami is experiencing agents calling in sick and it shut down terminal B on the 12th.

Yes these are not NORMAL, however they DID/DO happen.

Can't imagine the stress/panic for those on the 5th who made early flights and didn't make them. I'm not sure a noon flight from either MIA or FLL on the 5th would have worked.
