Smoking on Jade

I have an illness called Vocal Cord Dysfunction.  Smoke makes my vocal cords go crazy and I close up so I can't breathe... so I must avoid it. Two questions:  1)  On Jade, does the Casino smoke travel outside the Casino?  We went on the Carnival Paradise and there were two whole floors I couldn't go on (the fun floors, of course....the ones with the fun bars and karaoke and trivia) because the casino had no doors. I'll never go on a Carnival cruise again.  2) I know the smoking area at the pool is shaded.  Is there another shaded area away...like, other side of the boat away, from the smokers? I'm from Florida so I'm not looking to get a tan...just R&R and to beat everyone at trivia! 😂

I don't want an argument about smoking...I just want to no have a physical reaction while I'm on vacation.  I'm gluten intolerant, so I have enough problems without not being able to breathe.

We just got off the Jade. You will have to enter the theater on Deck 7 as the deck 6 entrance is through the casino. However, I found that sitting in the upper theater I could still smell the smoke from the casino, although not strongly. And yes, there is shade on the opposite side of the boat from the smoking area. You can avoid the smoking area very easily. However, we also found people smoking outside of the smoking area and on their balconies near ours. Nothing to be done about it. Some people are just rude.

it does like CRAZY. We are non-smokers and it bothered me a lot. The smoke permeated decks 6 through 8 - I am not kidding. My mom was on deck 8, all the way forward, and I had to hold my breath until I was at her cabin (8003). We were on deck 5, aft, and there was no smell on that deck.

The whole area stunk really badly.

My husband said - never again. Well, that and the fact that Jade broke down on Day 3 of our 10 day cruise and we had to go home. Getaway (our make up cruise a month later) was similar, but better, because only the deck with the casino was smoked through*. A lot of smoke on the pool deck... People also smoked on the balcony, so even though we got a balcony room, we couldn't use it or even open the door for a minute. Our cabin filled with smoke smell right away.

We also couldn't visit the free restaurants like Jasmine Garden and O'Sheehans because it was too smoky. I was really looking forward to having a ton of wings and Chinese food on our cruise, but we couldn't even walk by the restaurants, let alone eat in them.

We've never had this problem on Princess or RCI ships.

*Guess where the long disembarkation line in Miami was going through? That's right! Through the dang casino!

I'll be that ***** tattle tale.  I got a balcony so I would have a "for sure" place to sit smoke free.  Ugh.

we couldn't even tell which balcony the smokers were on. Eventually, I got so sick of it, I walked out and cursed them out really loudly.

Just off the 01/25/19 Jade cruise. The smoke was very bad in the casino and when walking through, it would make me cough. At times the smoke would reach the Magnums Bar area.

We were on this same sailing. Unlike our cruise on the Jade this time last year, I felt the smoke this year was very bad. It even permeated areas that you wouldn't think smoke would go.

We're back from our cruise and it was fine.  I just figured out that we could walk one floor above to avoid it.  I even sat in the lounge outside of the casino and the smoke didn't drift out.  Happy to report not a single problem with smoke.  I will cruise Jade again.

So there's two areas you want to avoid.  One is the upper deck at the pool.  It's a smoking area.  The entire pool deck, though, is smoke free!  yay!!!

Then you also want to avoid going through the Casino and the stairwell outside the casino.  Someone earlier said, when you're going to the big theatre, walk along deck 7 past the Sushi restaurant - that's what I did.

That was it though. Oh!  but, also, if you're going their private island - in Belize...you'll want to try to stay away from the smokers.  There doesn't seem to be a set non-smoking area.  We sat in some lounge chairs and about an hour later a big group of smokers came and sat down so we had to move.
