What to do while in Port?

We will be in San Juan next January form 7am to 3pm. Not sure what to do. I think I want to do one of the forts and Barrachina and maybe a beach. I would love to hear any suggestions

Your plan sounds good. You'll have to Uber or taxi to Isla Verde beach which is the most recommended beach that's close to San Juan.

 

I did a food tour on one trip to San Juan. Really enjoyed it!

The forts are amazing, that would be my top suggestion.  As for beaches, There is a beach across from the Capital building (playa pena) that is the only really walkable one in Old San Juan. It can be rougher waves at times and is rocky.  Further down (over a mile walk) there is Playa el escambron which is a nice little beach for swimming.  Cool fish right there to see for kids and safe.

 

Barrachinas to me was ok, a little high priced but not bad.  One of our favorites is Pizza Rustica.  They have things other than pizza but it is just a cool ambiance.  We haven't gone to as many places in OSJ to eat as we are usually staying in Concado.

we are still undecided on what to do. it will be our last port of the cruise. Not sure if we want a last beach day or be more busy thanks again.
