Formal Night On The Horizon?

Recommended Posts

Is there a specific formal night on the Horizon? We are booked on the March 9th sailing and were trying to decide when to go to the steakhouse.  Thanks.

On our Dec. 1 cruise (8 days, but a little different itinerary than yours), formal nights were Sunday night and Friday night.  Those were both sea days.

Yes, the Monday sea day and early return on Wednesday at Grand Cayman.  I did not see a single tuxedo on either Elegant night on Horizon.  We went to the steakhouse on the first night and took advantage of the wine special.

love your avatar

depends what day the ship departs, to say it's Monday or Wednesday, might not be accurate. Elegant night usually falls on the first sea day.

Since the Steakhouse will cost you 38 pp, a much better value and bang for your buck would be to go to Cucina del Capitano and Jiji's Asian Kitchen, which would only cost you 15 pp, giving you 2 better meals and saving 8 bucks as well.  IMHO, the Steakhouse on Carnival has gone downhill quality wise and especially selection wise over the years. This from a Platinum cruiser with Carnival who has eaten in 6 different steakhouses in the fleet.

Do you recall which night was the White Night and which night was the 80's night?

I also have reservations on the 1st night.  What is the wine special that's offerred?

The wine special is the free bottle of house wine or 50% off a bottle from the wine list.  We ordered a bottle from the list that, with the discount, was about the same price of the bottle at retail.  They do add the 18% tip/service charge though.

We ate at the steakhouse on Sunshine a few weeks ago and both my wife and I agreed the steaks were tremendous. We have been eating in Carnival steakhouses for years and we have not noticed any decline in quality. We are Platinum too, but I don’t see how that relates to the quality of the steakhouses.

Mentioning being Platinum and stating that I have eaten in 6 different steakhouses over 10+ years gives my opinion a different kind of perspective when compared to someone that has just recently eaten in a couple of the venues. Varied locations over a greater length of time should have bearing.

The porterhouse is no longer available and the quality of the lobster bisque has gone down as well.  There used to be an actual piece of lobster tail meat that was placed in the bottom of the bowl before the bisque was poured over it.  Once again, a cutback, since this is no longer true.

no where on land can you get an excellent 5 course meal for $38, with exceptional service and atmosphere, actually you can not even get just the steak for $38
