Lots of options for partial transits. In addition to the previous reply, suggest checking out Travel Agents specialising in cruises - either a local or online agency.

CC rules do not permit us to provide names of travel agencies.

HAL's Zuiderdam does 10 and 11 day round cruises out of Ft Lauderdale -- goes through the Gatun locks -- passengers who book excursions through the cruise line are allowed off the ship when the ship anchors for a little while in Gatun Lake.

Then the ship goes back out of the Gatun Locks and heads over to Colon to pick up those passengers who were on tour.

The partial transit cruise was perfect for us - 10 days, Holland America out of Fort Lauderdale in November.  As Krazy Kruisers wrote - the ship stops in Gatun Lake (after traversing the first set of locks), and passengers who have booked an excursion (through the ship only) can get off and take whatever excursion they chose. We booked the one that goes through the rest of the locks.  It wasn't that hot and humid, and we had rain for only about 10 minutes - we were on a covered ferry!  Saw the Pacific side locks, the Pacific and then were bussed to Colon to meet the ship.  It was all a wonderful experience.  Not one negative comment from us!
