* ms Veendam in Port Everglades - Sail a Way - January 25th, 2019*

Recommended Posts

It’s a day of contrasts in Port Everglades today with one of the smaller blue hulled beauties and a behemoth sailing.  I don’t know about the rest of you, but I would rather be on the Veendam!

Veendam is scheduled to be at pier 21 and sail at 5:00 pm.

She is doing the 10 day Authentic Cuba.  Here is her itinerary:

Fort Lauderdale, Florida (25 Jan d1700); Cozumel, Mexico (27 Jan 0800-1700); Belize City, Belize (28 Jan 0800-1700); Roatan, Honduras (29 Jan 0800-1700); Cienfuegos, Cuba (31 Jan 0800-1700); Falmouth, Jamaica (01 Feb 1000-1800); Half Moon Cay, Bahamas (03 Feb 0800-1600); Fort Lauderdale, Florida (04 Feb a0700)

Also in port is the Independence of the Seas.

The webcams are located at https://www.portevergladeswebcam.com

and https://www.ftlauderdalewebcam.com

Next up will be the Oosterdam on January 26th.

Hope to be here for sail away - but not sail in!

Thank you, Jacqui.

My pleasure.

I was going to try to do the next days as well but I have dogs that are scared to death (and to be honest so am I).  The winds that were supposed to be just 100 km/hr have to be higher than that.

When I took my dogs out I was nearly blown over.  There is ice being lifted and being banged against our windows.  It’s ferocious.

Long story short, over 5,000 people in our town are without power already and I fear we are doomed.  With the ice that will be there after, I don’t know how the power people will even get around so if the next sail a way isn’t posted, can someone do it please?

If I don’t post by noon the day before you know we have lost power and I hope someone will just post an alert.  My internet is going in and out so forgive me for any typos, etc.

Thanks kindly John.

Happy to say that although we lost power ours is back.  So, we are much better off than others in our area.

Doing a small happy dance to have power 😄

Now to attempt to get the ice off my driveway 😉

All the best Jacqui. Today is Robby Burns Day, so get your self a nice Single Malt Scotch & have a drink, that's what I'll be doing for sail away.

Our winds were bad last night -- but not that bad.

The salt truck just went by.  Hopefully our neighbor will get our driveway done early today.
