Great report and excellent pictures.

The penguins are adorable -- the baby ones I want to cuddle.  Great video.

Thank you , we appreciate that . Some of the chicks looked like little stuffed animals . We didn't see any King chicks but the Gentoo had some cute ones .

We asked the bus driver if he could drop us off at the ship instead of going downtown and he dropped us at the port's gate . I saw a rabbit at the center of this photo .

Almost there

We didn't have lunch on this trip and so we decided to take the plunge at the Dive In Grill . We like the fries and the sauce .

Of our 3 closeup encounters with penguins we ranked this one # 3 . With a Port side balcony were really looking forward to Glacier Alley and Ushuaia in the morning .

We were up early for our trip through Glacier Alley on Christmas Day

Unfortunately , the weather was not cooperating .

This is what one our favorite glaciers , the Romanche , looked like .

And this is what it looked like in 2013 .

Love the penguin pics, and baby chicks is there anything cuter?  What made this #3 on your list?  Was it the tour or the getting there?

The food on your ship looks delicious, or I am just really hungry with no lunch.

Another amazing glacier, even with the fog.

We do love seeing the penguins and chicks . Part of it was getting there and that it could be organized better . At our other stops we had a greater variety and closer encounters for a longer time and with fewer people . We do enjoy the food on cruises and thought that HAL did a great job .  :classic_biggrin:

As awesome as the glaciers are, it is the wake patterns in the water that I find most mesmerizing.

Here's another mesmerizing video :

Be aware that next summer season [20/21] will probably be Zaandam & other large cruise ships last in the Antarctic area south of  60 deg. South - due to new Ice Class rules that are now in force.

The new rules come fully into effect on 1st January 2022, but most vessels certificates will run out before then & this stops them operating right up to the deadline.

The same applies to Greenland as it is north of 60N, but Iceland & Norwegian coast are exempt due to Gulf Stream.

Thank you for the video of the wake pattern. Stunning.

We  took some stills also

With the bird still visible in the lower right corner , I observed some strange colors and shapes in the water

Zooming in I really enjoyed what the wake was doing to the shape and texture of the water

Since we didn't land in Ushuaia and we don't have new photos from there , we will use the 2013 photos for Ushuaia .
