Mardi Gras Roll Call - November 21, 2020

Recommended Posts

Checking, in Thanksgiving Cruise I am very much looking forward too.   Worried, that lack of production in China, will reverberate to inventory the Ship will need to be completed.    Causing ours to get cancelled as well.      Well if we do go, it will indeed be a "Thanksgiving!"

We better hope they figure this Virus out before tick season begins!

At this point, I am wondering if there will be further delay with the build due to the virus issue? I am not sure if the shipyard is even working over there.

uggg I know right. I have already in my mind written this cruise off as a no-go. I am hoping they sail by xmas and I will just do it then instead... this whole situation stinks!

I gave this to the kids and grandkids I really don’t want to book another ship. Crossing my fingers.

Bumping this up....have not heard any updates regarding the ship build? Hopefully it is far enough along we can still make our sail date. I would rather they cancel it now versus waiting past final payment date....would not be too happy about that type situation.

Rolloman I am with you, if it is not going to be ready on time they need to cancel it before final payment and hopefully we all can make new arrangements for our time off. I already have 1 FCC and I am waiting on another from a Easter sailing that got canceled.

I had read an article the ship yard is still working and other than enhanced safety protocols has not been adversely affected by the virus. That being said, we should be hearing information relatively soon about sea trials. This could be a good indicator of whether any further delays may be announced.

I know my shipyard Ingalls (America's Shipyard) has not shut down we had a lot of folks not come in because they offered a liberal leave with know questions asked an a lot of workers took advantage of it. And the sad part is the production did not drop that much. Patiently waiting for info on the Mardi Gras I hope we sail on 11/21 as planned I need a vacation with work the only thing open I am ready for anything.

What are people’s thoughts about being on a ship with so many people? I haven’t heard how cruise ships will be required to social distance - thinking about how they would do that in dining rooms, theaters, narrow hallways etc.

I’m not even sure how I feel about a cruise ship coming into ports of small islands potentially infecting or being exposed to this virus.  I’m struggling with knowing whether this is something we should do or not.  I have elderly parents going in this cruise, who if exposed, could be dangerous for them.  In my heart, I know cancelling is the right thing to do - just hoping Carnival makes the decision for us.

Snolan57 this is a decision you and your family have to make on whether to go or not. Do not count on Carnival to make this for you.

I will not make a decision until the last minute before final payment. We should get a good idea in a couple of weeks just how bad the Covid is after trying to go for a swim in the Gulf of Mexico this weekend it was more people than I have ever seen in my 50+ years of living on the coast gathered on the beaches but it was a great sight to see.

If everything goes as planned with the ship build and our cruise is a go,  I have been told the ship will not sail at full capacity. I have been on sailings half full due to weather and I can assure you it was great with regards to spacing. It was almost as if we had the ship to ourselves. As for the islands, it is up to you as to whether you want to disembark at each port of call. With this new beautiful ship, I am sailing with the thoughts the ship is my destination. Florida has been doing extremely well with regards to the virus compared to the rest of the nation. That being said, I think your elderly parents (if over 70) may wind up restricted from cruising due to the policy Carnival will be implementing once cruising starts. So as you say, Carnival may make the decision for you. We still have 5.5 months before we sail, so plenty of time to see how things progress before making any decisions.

Hope all are well ….I had made a post in the main board under the Mardi Gras thread earlier. All indications from the shipyard seem to show everything is on schedule.  Therefore it is my belief "one" of the reasons you can no longer book the ship until March is it is over sold. Hopefully there will be enough cancellations to bring it down the new maximum capacity the ship will be allowed to sail  with. However, if I am called with an offer to give up my reservation, I do not plan on giving it up as I want to cruise on a new half empty ship!! Curious to know what anyone else thoughts are in the event this were to happen?

I'm torn about canceling. I'd love to go, especially if it's half capacity. But now my husband's work schedule is messed up because of covid and he might not be back then. I'm waiting still to see what they offer because the thing we booked back in aug or whatever was a non refundable deposit and I'd be out 500

Some good news...I received in the mail a promotion for our sailing to purchase certain packages. Mommy/Daughter spa day...Character breakfast etc.... I view this as a positive due to the fact they would not be promoting our cruise if it was soon to be cancelled. I also read a post earlier which said the ship was ahead of schedule.....fingers crossed. I just sailed out of Port Canaveral last week on the Casino ship....it felt good to be back out at sea!!

Is it just me or does it seem like our cruise is not going to happen according to the news from Carnival the last few days I wish they would hurry up and let us know so I can try and book something else for that week.

Hope everyone is staying safe and keep us updated with info if you get any.

Paul
