Need guidance: All Inclusive is not always all inclusive.

If you are spending $50 a day on cocktails, then you should definitely look at the alcohol package.  We considered it on our Viking River Cruise, but given the relatively low price for drinks (6 euros for a G&T) and the lack of onboard drinking time (it's not like an ocean cruise where you are laying by the pool all afternoon) we elected to not pay the $20 per person per day as we didn't think we would both average drinking 3 drinks each day.  Since we ended up buying cocktails on the last night for everyone at the bar rather than leaving OBC on the table, I think we chose correctly.

Have a great cruise!

Please message me the details on your next cruise!
See you at the bar!

P.S. Yah, Viking cocktails are cheap.  Consider the Silver Spirits package if you want a wider wine selection, otherwise your martini, scotch or 2 are less expensive.

Joat,  We cruised with Scenic on the Gems of Danube.  We were picked up at Budapest Airport by Scenic and left at Marriott, no hand out for tip and helped with baggage into hotel. Day trip in Budapest with Scenic and no tips expected by bus driver or guide. Transferred to ship by Scenic, no tips. Entered restaurant area and there is a menu of available spirits.  Asked for a flight of all listed Scotch, some blends but mostly single malts. Nothing that I would call a rail drink. Wet bar in room was restocked 2X daily. I left the ship 7 days later in Nuremberg and had not spent a dime on tips.  I traveled with enough clothes to get through 1 week+ of travel and had Scenic launder my socks, shirts and undergarments. My bill was 26 Euro and I had clean clothes for the following week of travel. Any sandwich I wanted, any drink I consumed was included. Our guide was seen handing the drivers cash on some stops. ther was NO expectation or request for additional tips. My wife and I have cruised numerous times and the daily ask for money is relentless (port pictures, dinner pictures, cabin service, bar tenders).  Not so on Scenic

I agree with doverboy's description of Scenic with a few additions. A bag of laundry is included for even the lower level cabins.

The mini bar in the room is restocked daily so there was cold diet coke waiting when we got back to the room.  And we were taken to the airport and escorted to our check-in counter.

Like Jebbud, when we took our first Scenic cruise in 2015 we compared it to Viking and Scenic came out cheaper.  For returning cruisers there is a discount.  For our upcoming 2019 Christmas market cruise with Scenic there was also a discount since we paid in full before a certain date.  This cruise includes airfare and, with all the amenities, it would be hard to beat the price.

On our Gems of the Danube cruIse with Scenic we owed about $20 for laundry. As I recall we got some gelato and I paid to get into a museum during a free afternoon. Everything else was included in our fare.

That’s two Christmas Market cruises in a row for you isn’t it Nancy?  You’re making me think about suggesting one to Mona.

Yes, last year was Emerald from Nuremberg to Amsterdam via the Mainz. Loved the towns and cities on the route. GREAT cruise director but so so food.

This Year is on Scenic from Basel to Amsterdam. Some familiar places but lots new, too.
