It's been 10 years since I've sail Royal.  What's your favorite foods?

Thank you😎

Scallops from coastal kitchen and lamb chops from jaimes.

The paella served  in Windjammer on day 1; the Cuban panino sandwich from Park Café; cream of mushroom soup at Chops Grille--just a few of my favorites.

Almost forgot--savory bites in the bread basket in the MDR--if you request them early in the cruise, they will make them for you.

Roasted Poblano Pepper Soup in the MDR, Savory Bites, Lasagna MDR... however my absolute fave is the sautéed mushrooms atop a filet or ribeye at Chops.

Love this thread as we will be eating in the "free" dining options, no specialty restaurants, so It is helpful to hear what is good.

Following.

We will be on FOTS in a couple weeks and have never cruised with RC.  We will only be hitting the free dining options also.

Thanks!

My wife is not a fan of meat, so when we cruise I really enjoy getting my fill of stakes and hamburgers.

Lamb shank and escargot, and the roast beef sandwiches from Park Cafe & Cafe@270.  Also love the Tutti Salad Bar in the MDR on sea days.

The Kummelweck sandwich, if you are on a ship with a Park Café!

Thanks, I can't wait to try this sandwich!

The last time we sailed with RCCL was 2007. We only intend to eat for free in the MDR and Windjammer, so any other recommandation would be appreciated.

One thing to keep in mind, some of the items on the MDR dinner menu might also be available in the WJ that same evening.  Makes it nice to enjoy some of those items, while still having a nice, casual evening.

ok...so what is a kummelweck sandwich?  also, what are "savory bites" in the bread basket?  they aren't something always included in the bread basket in MDR?

It's probably the best roast beef sandwich you'll ever have! On some sailings they've been a little skimpy with the beef, but you can always order 2 :classic_biggrin:

My favorite on the ships, though, is the sweet cranberry breakfast bread - i have a total mind block of the name, but it's amazing.

Savory bites are the little bread nuggets served in the MDR.  Crunchy outside, chewy inside.  They are wonderful!

And I love almost all of the vegetarian dishes!
