Hello Everyone

Going through a T/A you "may" get some unadvertised freebies.

I booked my first cruise with the Princess website. I talked with the rep later to ask questions.

On my second booking, I called direct and I found that it was a better experience just due to the fact there’s human contact which makes it more real, and I had questions answered on the spot.

Personally, I avoid travel agents because I just don’t trust them. Plus I don’t have access to a “big box” store and if I’m going to do it online anyway, I’ll go straight to the source.

Thank you so much for the info. Booking online is super easy just was not sure if booking on on the phone with princess would be any better.

There are some specials that don't show up online at the Princess site. Especially any casino discounts. I always book it first so I get what I want then call in to find out if there are any other offers available that may be combinable. I've usually gotten something better when I call in.

this is not about booking direct with Princess vrs a TA - as so many posters always bring up how great their TA is..

this is about booking direct on the website of booking direct with a PRINCESS rep.  the only downside to booking

with a Princess rep that I can see is the 10 or so minutes of actually 'talking' to a person 'after' you have already been to the website and did your homework on cabin selection, promo, etc

a 'possible' perk may, as some have stated, is a non-advertised perk/rate that the Princess rep  can access

Be nice and polite - like I always am ...:classic_biggrin:

On our upcoming Alaska cruise, the Princess rep on the phone gave us an extra $30 each of OBC.  Not a huge amount, but better than nothing.

Also, when I've tried to book on the website, I can't find a way to enter my husband's Captains Circle information, so I end up having to call anyway.

Yes there can be. I use the PVP assigned to me and Often gotten some much better deals that didn't show up on the website. I just booked a cruise 2 days ago under a CAS deal that didn't show up on website. Here's how the pricing went. This pricing was all for the same room that I picked.

Regular princess on sale pricing with current promo  $5,100 + $600 OBC + 1 special meal.

CAS offer that I had was $3,600 + $600 OBC + 1 special meal + $150 casino cash

These were the deals that showed up online for me.

I called the PVP to book under the CAS and she told me 'wait a min while I check to see if you have anything else.' After a couple of min she came back and told me she found another even better unadvertised CAS deal for me.

$2,800 + $600 OBC +1 special meal + $150 casino cash. (yes deposit is refundable) That's $800 I just saved. This is not a last min. cruise but one for next year.

There have also been times when my PVP calls me with some really great unadvertised deals that you may only get by them calling you.

Due to my not being able to book online myself due to technicalities, the 2 experiences I have had on the phone with Princess representative has been good.

I also was able to ask them to find out why my email now is considered not valid since it is the same email I have used for the last 5 years and what is logged in with Princess. The rep said she would report it to the captains circle to be looked at. I just logged in and they must of fixed it. 🙂

Once when booking a cruise, on Princess website, I could not find a Cabin available on the Carib deck.  It was almost a year before the cruise and I could not understand why none were available.  Called Princess and the Rep said plenty available.  He had no explanation why they were not showing.  Never hurts to call.

For sure I have never used them it’s to late today but will let everyone know what I get. Maybe being elite they will give me something extra anything isn’t bonus.

Well I tested the theory. Today I called princess worked with a rep and got nothing extra then booking on line. I asked for any obc or discounts and got nothing. I am looking at booking one more cruise in the future next week so will try again

sometimes if you book without and discounts; you can try later and sometimes they will be able to apply discounts; or you may have to canx current cruise and rebook same cruise with discounts.  I feel if you are pro active it helps

I agree. There is nothing special about using a PVP.

Thanks for verifying that.

If the cruise is run of the mill the website is probably fine.  However, I find talking to a rep sometimes provides useful information even if I do not get any other benefits.

Plus the website does not always have everything listed such as upgrade preferences (although I don't ever expect this to happen).
