Paphillyguy Posted March 18, 2019 #51 Share Posted March 18, 2019 Just off the Escape yesterday and stayed in the Haven. The no drinks in the hot tub was fully enforced.
Another ship trip Posted March 20, 2019 #52 Share Posted March 20, 2019 On all but our last cruise we have had waiters bring drinks to the hot tub. I generally don't use it much (we have one at home), but hubby does. Having a drink and visiting for a little while is nice. Just don't bring glass into it. Why should it matter if someone has a drink in their hand in the hot tub as long as they aren't kids or drunk? I don't see why anyone would care. It isn't like someone smoking in the hot tub which would be uncomfortable for the nonsmokers as they would have to breathe that in. While I don't care, it will matter to him. What I really wish is that they would ban smoking in the casino. I like to play but can't stand being around the smoke and dragging that smell on your clothes back to the cabin. They may consider it a liability issue now. That's my best guess because a policy change is usually driven by regulation, safety, litigation (safety's close cousin) or revenue generation. I haven't heard of any new regulation, so safety / litigation seems to me most likely. It's dangerous to drink alcohol in a hot tub (Google it for the warnings from the CDC and the hot tub manufacturers). You shouldn't do it.

It is a health issue and when someone wants to use the hot tub for relaxing, visiting and drinking is where the health issues start to mount plus can we all imagine if someone spills a drink in the hot tub? What a mess that could make, resulting in cleaning the tub from top to bottom if it is a sweet drink or a frothy one. I understand the reasoning 100%
Rare shark&minnow Posted March 20, 2019 #55 Share Posted March 20, 2019 We were on the Star-2 weeks-Panama Canal and they would not allow drinks in any pool. Very disappointing.
Rare graphicguy Posted March 20, 2019 #56 Share Posted March 20, 2019 The “no drinks” in hot tubs makes sense. I would imagine dropping any of the drinks in the hot tub would be a nightmare. Personally, I don’t use public hot tubs, so no biggie for me.
