I would think that if someone followed the same process as changing a guarantee, i.e., don't mention upgrade, just find an open stateroom in the same exact category and ask to change, it might work.

If I knew that would work I would probably bid on a JS for our MA cruise next month.  Don't want to pay extra money and get one on deck 10.  Right now there are a good many left on both deck 9 and deck 10.  Going for $1350 pp for a 4 night cruise  YIKES!!!

Thanks to all that responded. The cruise has been sold out for a while now. It is in 3 weeks.  No cabins are available to be switched according to TA. It looks like the connecting cabin is only for two persons, so it should be quiet at night.

I think this is something your new hard working travel agent should be able to handle.😇

Don't stress over the cabin, I have been in many cabins that are connecting and never had an issue with neighbors.  Hope your experience is the same.

I was thinking that the majority of the time that will be the case by the time the RoyalUp offers are approved and given out.

I am sailing on Anthem of the Seas June 2nd and my bid was accepted on April 10th.  We had an obstructed balcony on deck 6 and we are now upgraded to a regular balcony on deck 9.  I was very happy with the obstructed balcony since I have sailed in one before but my husband was really unhappy with it.  I paid $400 ($200/per person) more for this cabin and I am happy with the price since all balconies are sold out.  4 months after I booked it I wanted to change the cabin to a regular balcony and it was $700 more and I would have lost $200 in OBC so I feel like we did good with this price.  I also bid on the Jr Suite and I would have loved to get it but that's ok.  I'm not overly thrilled with the location of the cabin, (at the back of the ship) but that's ok my husband will be happier now.

We are now in cabin 9718 so if anyone has any information on that one please let me know

I placed an early bid for a JS on the Mariner of the Seas and did not win. It was a weak bid and I was notified the night before the cruise. Someone else on the same cruise won a GS with a weak bid. You never know ...

Posted in a another Royal Up thread, but figured it was relevant here too:

In February 2019,  I booked a quick 4nt getaway on the Navigator for the end of May 2019.  It was booked through my T/A.  On April 12, 2019, I received the RoyalUp email.  I had a junior suite booked.  I bid $200/person on an upgrade to a grand suite.  That was lower middle of the bid range.  Received an email on April 30 confirming my bid was accepted.  So $424 total with the additional suite gratuities for the upgrade to a GS over the JS.

That is at the top end of my price comfort level for a 4nt cruise, but was still much cheaper overall than it would have been to direct book the grand suite.

I'm happy and she (my other half) will be super surprised which makes it even more worth it!  😍

Dan.

Ignored the first two Royalup emails and then decided to go for it on the 3rd one, cruise is 31st May Baltic on Brilliance and got the email today to say we had one, now have an aft cabin on deck 8 for an extra 85 pounds each, very happy. Previously mid ship balcony on deck 7 😁

As the start price was £80 I would class £85 as weak.

Originally booked an interior guarantee on Harmony, bid the lowest on several options, but had bid accepted for neighborhood view at $30pp.

We had a CLS got 3 emails to bid. We decided to bid on the 2 bedroom ATS there are 4 of us.  First we bid $640x2 then saw ship was sold out so played around with bid and left it at $500x2. Tuesday we got the congratulations email saying we got it. We only bid $100 above minimum of $400. To say we are excited is not enough. We sail Sunday and can hardly wait.

We received one May 21st for our June 2nd Freedom of the Seas cruise.  We sailed in 9 days and still waiting to hear. We did what they consider weak bids.

We have a balcony and bid on Junior suite and grand suite-1 bedroom. The extra space will come in handy since there are 3 of us (Mom, Dad and 7 year old)

I was just notified I won. I am 11 days from the cruise. Medium bid- went from Inside Guarantee to Inside Promenade. Interestingly- I had called Royal earlier in the day (before I received the email) and asked how many bids they accept. I was told there is usually only 1 cabin held back per category- per sailing. And sometimes none at all.

So this won't work for group bookings where all of our cabins are close by on the same deck.

That's why we didn't bid, didn't want to be separated from our group.

Got the Royal up email for the third time today. We are in a crown loft suite. There are 4 of us so we decided to go for the bid to a 2 bedroom aqua suite. We bid the minimum if $410 pp split 4 ways it’s $200 pp which is totally worth it but not feeling confident but what the heck right?  We will be happy with our crown loft suite anyway. This is for the Allure May 26th sailing

And this has what to do with you?  I changed our bid several times. What are you the cc police?  I’m flattered you watch my posts so closely

Are you trying to say we didn’t get the upgrade by posting this?

When do the bid offers usually come in? Closer to sailing?

Anytime after final payment, but likely 30-60 days out.
