Sunshine Refrigerator Review

I din't bring a thermometer but our Deck 9 interior had a mini fridge, but it was in a cabinet.  On days when I left the cabin last and left the cabinet door open, things in the fridge were noticeable colder compared to days when DW left the cabin last and closed it!

Our deck 2 aft oceanview cabin on the Sunshine didn't have a fridge last month.  Wasn't a big deal since we seldom use one on a cruise and we really liked our cabin.  Seems like I recall reading the cabins above a certain deck level are equipped with fridges.

Women are like that! The cabin must be left tidy!

so the steward won't think we're slobs -or something.

I've been married twice...

I think several of us guys with mechanical/engineering backgrounds

have proven this "theory" re. the fridge cabinet door being left open

to assist in efficient refrigeration via heat-dissipation.

Funny you should talk about deck levels etc

but I now recall that our last two or three cruises on VALOR

(when we could board at Barbados) - we had a fridge in our inside cabin on Deck Two!

So it may vary from ship to ship, depending on their overall age?

I agree, I think it is pretty clear.  There was a vent in the side of the cabinet, but no significant other area for air to flow in/out.  I think next cruise I will bring the small battery powered fan I have for camping.  I think there was room for it between the fridge and side of the cabinet where i could have it blowing out the vent.  This may achieve enough airflow to improve the cooling efficiency just by the air this would pull in around the door even if it were closed!

Can you tell I am a Process Engineer!

ALWAYS leave the fridge cabinet open.... ALWAYS. ===> Me too.

I've always thought that a practical solution would be

for Carnival Engineering to take the danged cabinet doors off the cabinets

and replace them with a fancy frame thing, to hide anything ugly
resulting in a cost-effective, open-fronted cabinet! Problem?
