New Adventures from Galveston

Big news for the Lone Star state— Adventure of the Seas will call Texas home for the first time in 2020, becoming the largest ship sailing short getaways from Galveston. Touting “only-on-Royal” favorites, including Splashaway Bay and the Perfect Storm waterslides, guests sailing on Adventure can make the most of their 4- and 5-night vacations while visiting Costa Maya and Cozumel, Mexico. Adventure of the Seas will join Liberty of the Seas, which will be sailing 7-night Caribbean cruises year-round from Galveston (announced in Dec. 2018).

Enchantment of the Seas will sail south for the winter to homeport in San Juan, Puerto Rico for the first time, following her summer season in Galveston.

This is awesome news, the second ship will be Navigator size. Will this coincide with the new terminal opening?

This is very cool news.  The AOTS is an awesome ship.  Really enjoyed it when we sailed it out of Puerto Rico.

That's a big uptake in rooms for Royal. The 2nd ship doing milk runs will be Navigator size. Wasn't too long ago, Navigator was the main ship serving Galveston. This with an Oasis class coming, new state of the art terminal, Royal is taking the gloves off against Carnvial in Galveston.

IMO, a matter of time before we hear about Carnival building their own new terminal in Galveston.

It is certainly possible . Carnival controls  Terminal 1 and controls partially Terminal 2 with three full time ships now.

Vista is one of three in the Vista Class, and is their largest Carnival Class . Vista is already in Galveston .

There is talk of a fourth and fifth terminal . Norwegian and MSC with their new builds on order have been in discussions with Galveston .

Good news ssb! You have been touting Galveston as an up-n-coming port for some time now and replacing the Vision with Adventure adds about 1,000 passengers to each sailing.

Along with the Oasis-sized terminal, this certainly confirms Galveston as a major player.

As a "local" (Houston area), I don't see Galveston a a "major player" until other than the really mass market lines - Carnival, NCL, Royal Caribbean - decide to have a presence. Yes, I know, Disney comes in for about 2 months. Where is HAL, Princess or Celebrity?

Fourth largest cruise port in US, five full time ships and one seasonal time under multiple year long term contracts, third terminal being built at pier 10,  multiple story parking garage being built for terminals #1 & #2 , Carnival's largest and Royal's biggest will be in port , Del Monte lease from pier 11 to west presently being restructured for port to be able to relocate them to provide for new terminals, therefore fourth and fifth terminals under consideration for these players.

Who wants it more and first.

Norwegian and MSC and others need homeports, with their new builds on order and have been in discussions with Galveston .

Celebrity is Royal obviously. Princess has said it wants back in ! HAL ?

A major effort also being put forth now for the future with long term and short planning of a Master Plan performed by a company out of Miami, that has help them move forward with Florida cruising

successes.

Did not know T1 and T2 were getting parking garages. Where?

Wander what this will do to the offsite parking companies.

One for both T1 & T2 . Now projected for between Terminals and Harborside with the first draft of Master Plan .

Preliminary design plans are drawn. All subject to change.

Off site parking companies certainly will be impacted.
