I do not know if you can get reclining chairs.

I do know that my brother, who slept in a recliner at his home due to bad back, bad neck, bad knees, and other issues, would cruise in the disabled suite and ask for pillows. Lots and lots and lots of pillows. Both in RCCL and NCL. Which they brought. And fashioned a semi-recliner. I don't know if that would work for your DH, but it's a thought.

you have to  order one  yourself from one of the two  entities that are allowed to provide DME to the ships.  one is special needs at sea.   I believe the other is scootaround?    they will arrange to get access to your cabin ahead of time and remove any  furniture required to install the  sleeping chair.

does he need extra firm?   we have found that the couches are very firm as they are( not converted to a bed)

I arranged a reclining/lift chair for my 95 yr old aunt this past November when we sailed on Allure. I ordered through Scootaround and it was $235 for six nights. It was in our room when we arrived. She slept in it every night and loved it. It worked out perfect for us. We were in an assessible Jr suite but I read where others had in regular rooms and it fit fine too.
