New RCL ship for Sydney? Radiance now in Brisbane

Recommended Posts

Just wondering what Royal Caribbean will be home porting in Sydney now that Radiance will be moved to Brisbane for the 20/21 season?

I’d love to say an Oasis class ship!

Reality will probably be that Ovation and Voyager does a longer season to make up for one less ship.

Great.   More choice for Brisbane now with Carnival and Royal Caribbean coming.   P and O might have to up their game.

They might not add another ship to Sydney  With Radiance serving Brisbane and surrounds there might not be the demand for another ship in Sydney.

So glad for all these ships in Brisbane, we live half way so Sydney or Brissy is good, hopefully there will be a lot of great itineraries.

Getting port time in Sydney is increasingly difficult due to many of the ships needing the OPT (cannot get under the bridge for white bay).

That ad hints at it being Odyssey of The Seas which is set to debut in October 2020 - perhaps its going to be the first new build specifically designed for AUS/NZ (doing winters in Alaska).

Won't Happen sadly Odyssey will be based in the US and Barcelona.

More than happy to have Radiance sailing out of Brisbane.

Will be interesting to see which ships are being based out of Brisbane in the future, ( once the new terminal opens) .......... and Sydney remains the same.

Don’t know what they would do with those two big ships in the Chinese winter?

Singapore would be a over supply.

Ours is doing Japan and Philippines, subsequent cruises are also doing the South East Asia countries. Close to the equator means cruising all year round.

With Radiance moving to Brisbane in Nov 2020 (after update), a theory I have read elsewhere & have now checked out, based on the Serenade OTS's Vancouver to Honolulu cruise in Sept 2020, is that the schedule to be released in two weeks will have Serenade (a Radiance class ship) continuing on from Hawaii to Sydney, and working the 20-21 season out of Sydney.

I thought Seranade may get the slot given its last position for any sale has it in Hawaii, whilst great news that Brisbane has been given Radiance its somewhat a little disappointing Sydney is getting back the same class of ship. The news could be made better if it was a full year round deployment as I believe theres capacity there to compete with Carnival and P&O duting the winter, any way lets see what the official story is and just be greatful we gained another ship (well kind of as we lost Explorer in Sydney)

I suppose they have seen how popular the Radiance is and thought another ship of the same class would do as well.
