Car service suggestion LAX to San Pedro round trip

Recommended Posts

I would not recommend Execucar.  I had a pre-paid reservation for pick-up at San Pedro.  They hung up on me the first time I called after I got off the ship, apparently didn't do anything the second time I called, and only after I called a third time actually got the driver moving to me.  Picked me up well after my pre-scheduled time (I was out earlier than my pre-scheduled time, but then I was waiting for at least an hour).  Then the driver said he had been just outside the port for more than an hour waiting to hear from the office that I was ready!

The next time I was at San Pedro I used the cab line and it was WAY less stressful.

I just went through the options myself while looking to possibly make a reservation for my return trip from our cruise next week (we have a one-way cruise from Vancouver, so we are going to leave our car in an LAX parking lot and just need the one-way back from the port).

Prime Time came up with a set price of $32 one-way.

Uber, per their estimator, would be around $29 for UberX.

SuperShuttle, Execucar and various limo services would be significantly more.  Taxis are expensive and very unpredictable.

Bottom line came down to Uber vs. Prime Time Shuttle--with a private vehicle...

--Uber is slightly cheaper...but, we could encounter "surge pricing" negating that advantage while Prime Time, it's a set price.

--With Prime Time, we'd need to reserve an exact time...while with Uber, we call whenever we're off the ship and ready and they are usually there within a few minutes.

--With Uber, there is the additional advantage of their app--which clearly shows the car we're waiting for and the current location of the car with a time estimate.

We've decided to go with Uber since:

1)  We don't know exactly when we will be off the ship and ready for pick-up

2)  We don't need to make an advance reservation (You never know--someone we run into onboard may volunteer a ride).

3)  We love the ease of use.
