I think it's been a pretty open secret, but I just saw this on Twitter:

BREAKING NEWS | The name of our next Pinnacle Class ship is...Ryndam!

Glad they left the 'Nieuw' part off of it. 🙂

I would have preferred Nieuw Ryndam.

Great choice Holland America Line!

Now, let's invite back Dutch Royalty to christen her (instead of entertainment elites) and let the traditions begin/continue!

We look forward to booking passage on the Ryndam!

Princess Amalia would be a good choice; she'll be 17/18 yrs old in 2021

Glad to see HAL leave off the "Nieuw" prefix, and completely unsurprised at the use of Ryndam for the ship's name.  It's nice to see them keep their naming traditional alive!!!!

Also agree that Statendam needs to lose the "Nieuw" - perhaps at her first drydock :classic_blink:

As far as removing the "Nieuw", just how easy is that?

I would think there would be lots of paperwork and red tape involved ...  Registry documents, insurance, etc

I am glad that Pinnacle 3 will be known as Ryndam.  I am not sure where I read this--maybe on CC--that there has been some confusion by some guests when they tried to book Nieuw Statendam.  They accidentally booked Nieuw Amsterdam.  Having another ship named "Nieuw whatever" could have made such an issue even more of a PR problem for HAL.

Good move HAL! Now get rid of the "Nieuw" in Nieuw Statendam; tradition!

I agree with you on Both counts.  Statendam and Ryndam make a lot more sense.
