That’s what we have experienced on HAL, Celebrity and Cunard — the mattress pad effectively covered the crack - which was simply not noticeable.

I''ll just add my 2cents...in over 40 cruises, we have never had the beds "come apart" at all.  Unless you are really doing a lot of "bedtime gymnastics" with a really lot of gusto, you should have no problems..  Enjoy your cruise! 😉

I must be doing it all wrong because I haven't had the beds come apart yet.😋
