Question about when Kids’ Club Gets Full

Recommended Posts

We have a spring break cruise coming up next week, which wasn’t too full until the crane fell on Oasis, and while I am happy that many of those passengers were able to rebook on Breakaway, we are now preparing to be on a more crowded ship. I hear that if the kids’ club and Entourage get full, they turn people away. We only have one kid who is young enough to be in the kids’ club. She is 12, and I would bet the 10-12 group is the least popular, as many of those kids feel too old for the kids’ club.

So here is my question. Is the limit on capacity for each age group, or for the whole Splash Academy overall? If there is a limit per age group, I am not too worried, as I would imagine the younger groups would fill up, but not the 10-12 group. If it’s for Splash Academy as a whole, I will try to make sure she gets there early if she wants to go, and change our dinner reservations accordingly.

I’m also wondering if Entourage fills up on spring break cruises. My teen will probably not go every night, but the first night is important to meet people, and I don’t want him to get turned away.

We sailed on the Escape on a full ship over spring break, our spring break was just earlier than yours.  Entourage never turned anyone away, in part because as far as I could tell, most kids "met" at Entourage and then just hung out outside Entourage.

One a much earlier voyage (when my kids were splash academy ages) the capacity was by group, not overall.  We were behind a family trying to check in their much younger child that was turned away due to capacity, and our slightly older children sailed right in.

Hope this helps, and have fun!

This was what we got last week on the Escape. If the club is full, you're out of luck.

We sailed the Breakaway two April’s in a row with our Twins who were three, then four. We registered them at Splash Academy as soon as we embarked and we were never turned away when we went to drop them off. The line for drop off the first morning was MASSIVE but moved pretty quickly.

Eek! It says to register for splash academy asap, but how do you register?

We registered in the terminal prior to embarkation. I think that’s the earliest you can register.

In NY, they had a table in the terminal. We usually don’t see this, and wait until we embark.

In the Splash Academy check-in area on the Breakaway there's a sign for max occupancy upstairs and downstairs. I think it's about 60 each. The youngest group, 3-5 year olds, were almost always downstairs, the 10-12 year olds almost always upstairs, and I think the 6-9 year olds were sometimes up/sometimes down depending on their activity.  But there weren't enough kids on either cruise with my daughter (at 3 and 4 years old) that they'd ever have to turn anyone away so I don't have any first-hand experience with that.

On our last Breakaway cruise, it was fall break and very crowded and the clubs maxed out each day.

We just decided that we would go up 20-25 mins early each time, because with the lines you are going to wait either way, so we figured we might as well wait for the doors to open and ensure our son got in. It was a pain, but imagine how mad you would be if you waited 20 mins but didn’t get in.
