dmanshoory,  yes the babies can get off the ship.  Sorry but no babies with diapers allowed in any pool

Infants and young children in diapers and/or swim diapers, and children who are not toilet trained are NOT permitted in any of the pools or spas due to public health concerns. Our policy is strictly observed onboard and is intended for the public health safety of all

Hi all! We just booked the Royal Princess Medallion Class cruise with about 6 other families, and we all have children between the ages of 6 months 2 years old. We just found out that:

a) children are NOT allowed to go into the pool with swim diapers, and

b) children between the ages of 6-12 months are NOT allowed to get off the boat when we arrive at any ports

Does anybody know anything about whether these are true? And if so, do they strictly regulate them?? Really need some advice here as we do not want to go on the cruise if we can't take our children into the pools. And one of the families is going to cancel if they can't take their 7 month old daughter off the ship.

PLEASE HELP!!

Do you really enjoy letting them pollute the pool so that no one on the ship can use it? Let the use the bathtub in the room if you've got one.

Swim diapers are not allowed in any pools on Princess ships. I don't know about disembarkation restrictions.

From the FAQ on the Princess web site:

Age requirements
Guests under the age of 21 years must travel in a stateroom with a guest 21 years or older who shall assume responsibility for their care during the cruise. For family groups booking multiple staterooms, the minimum age for each stateroom is 16 years of age, provided they are traveling with a parent or legal guardian. We are unable to accept group reservations for student or youth groups that do not conform to our minimum age requirements. Each guest agrees and warrants that he/she will supervise any guest in his/her care at all times to ensure all policies, along with all other rules of the Carrier and ship, are strictly adhered to by all guests under their supervision.

Passport requirement when minors travel with one adult on voyages governed by the U.S. Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative (includes travel within Bermuda, Canada, Caribbean, Mexico & United States)

When minors (any guest under the age of 18) are traveling with only one adult 21 years of age or older, Princess requires that all guests possess a valid passport. Carrier has implemented this requirement so that Your party remains together should an emergency arise that requires one or more in your party to disembark in a non-U.S. port. Carrier cannot guarantee that all members of Your party are allowed to disembark with just a WHTI-compliant document or birth certificate. Failure to present a valid passport for all guests traveling together results in denial of boarding without refund of the of the cruise or cruisetour fare.

Minimum Age Requirements:
Infants must be at least 6 months of age at the time of embarkation in order to sail.
Children must be at least 12 months of age at the time of embarkation to sail on trans-ocean crossings and remote itineraries, where there are more than 2 consecutive sea days.

Cruisetours: The minimum age for escorted cruisetours is 5 years.

Infants/Young Children and Swimming Pools
Parents/guardians are reminded to bring their children dressed in appropriate attire with towel and sunscreen. Youth staff will not conduct children's activities in the adult or splash pools. Parents must supervise their children at all times when using the pools. Infants and young children in diapers and/or swim diapers, and children who are not toilet trained are NOT permitted in any of the pools or spas due to public health concerns.

Our policy is strictly observed onboard and is intended for the public health safety of all guests.

Documents for guests under the age of 18
Several countries require special documentation for children traveling with only one parent or with neither parent; these requirements are subject to change without notice. Many foreign countries require any single parent or guardian to bring a permission slip for the minor to travel abroad. It is your responsibility to ensure that you possess the proper documents for all of the countries that you will visit. Please verify requirements with the consulates of the countries visited prior to your cruise.

For guests under 21 years of age or those who are traveling with children, please note:

  • Entry into the disco after 10 p.m. is limited to guests 18 years and over. Be sure to check with the Youth and Teen Centers for special dance parties designed for kids and teens.
  • Children who are toilet-trained and accompanied by a parent or guardian are permitted in the sauna and hot tub(s) unless otherwise specified.
  • Guests under the age of 13 are allowed in the evening entertainment show lounges if they are with their parent or guardian.
  • In line with domestic U.S. age limits, as well as our company policy, the casino, cash prize bingo and horse racing are reserved for guests 18 years and older. Picture identification may be requested.
  • Guests under the age of 18 are prohibited from purchasing cigarettes or tobacco products while on board.

Youth programs
Princess offers entertaining options for all ages, with our Camp Discovery programs created in partnership with Discovery Communications, especially with junior cruisers ages 3-12 in mind. The Treehouse (for ages 3-7) and The Lodge (for ages 8-12) give kids the chance to enjoy everything from arts and crafts, game tables, movies, and more.

Children are welcome on all Princess ships, but facilities vary. Pacific Princess® does not have dedicated Youth and Teen Centers. However, when 20 or more children ages 3 to 17 are traveling on this ship, they will enjoy a varied schedule of supervised activities organized by our Youth Team.

Don’t miss the orientation and registration meeting on the first night of your cruise. You and your children can meet the Youth and Teen staff and learn more about our exciting shipboard programs. Parents are always welcome to join their children in the Youth and Teen Centers.

ADDITIONAL REMINDERS
Children under 3 are not permitted in the Youth Center unless accompanied by a parent at all times. Youth counselors cannot administer medication, bottle-feed, change diapers, or provide meal service. Private in-cabin babysitting is not available on any Princess ship. All children participating in the Youth Program must be potty-trained. Children who are not potty-trained are not permitted in hot tub or pool facilities.

Did you know if you are doing a back 2 back you only get one Medallion? Even if it is different ships!

Hello @Notonboard Just a quick clarification ... Medallions are ship-specific. If you were sailing Ship A out of Port Everglades for one voyage, followed by back to back voyages on a separate ship (Ship B), you would be issued two OceanMedallions - one that would be active on Ship A; and a separate Medallion that would be active on your back-to-back voyages on Ship B.

You could arrange to have the Medallion for your first voyage shipped in advance to your home or available for pick up at your first embarkation terminal.  The second , Medallion that would be active on Ship B would be provided to you when you arrived at the terminal where you'd embark for your second voyage.

Good to know. Somebody there is telling folks it is one Medallion programed for all your back to back Cruises.

It's good for B2B trips provided your on the same ship.

If you change ships, they change your Medallions.

If this is a true Princess rule, it's a good thing.  Pool poo pollution is the reason we haven't used a public pool for at least 10 years.  (And people wonder why there are outbreaks of gastrointestinal issues on cruise ships.)

There is a major issue with MedallionClass that needs to get addressed especially now that OceanReady only points you to MedallionClass.

I have a Samsung Galaxy S10 running Android 9 and my husband has a Galaxy S9 also running Android 9.  When we open the app, everything freezes as the opening screen. None of the buttons work.  I've deleted the app, restarted my phone, reinstalled the app, granted permissions and get the same result. I've deleted all the other Ocean apps I have on my phone, reinstalled MedallionClass and it still freezes. Nothing seems to help.  There are 2 other people I know who also have Galaxy S8's and have exactly the same issue.

I have an old Galaxy Tab A running Android 7.1.1 and tried loading MedallionClass on it and it works!  So, it would seem that the problem is either an incompatibility with Galaxy S phones or Android 9.

We have a cruise that leaves Nov 3 (Sky Princess) and need to have someone at Medallion support understand that this is a problem that needs a resolution before then.  When the latest update to OceanReady took away our ability to use it, it became clear that the assumption is that MedallionClass works for everyone.  Please understand that it doesn't.

sfoak,  have you tried setting everything up on the ocean website?  You can do all the same things there and when the app gets fixed for android phones your info will be there.

Yes, but I can't use the ocean website to setup my husband's account because it  has not been able to setup new accounts for several days. I called yesterday and they are"working on it." Also, I honestly am not holding out much hope of getting the MedallionClass app fixed to use on our upcoming cruise due to support's unresponsiveness to calls and emails.

I read a post on another thread that having 2 cruises on different ships with a day between cruises would be only one Medallion...AOM, thanks for providing the correct answer.

I understand that the medallion will unlock your door as you approach it. My question is if you leave the room and don’t take your medallion does the door remain unlocked? As an example if I go to the pool and don’t want to take my medallion with me, what happens when I close the door?

You would be locked out.

I think the poster might be thinking about times when a cabin mate still have their medallion. As long as the two remain together, I'd assume the door would work just like it did with the old cruise cards; if you have one or the other, the door will unlock.

But maybe I am wrong......🙄

I have an iPhone 10 with the latest system updates and having similar problems today trying to get into Ocean Ready.  It either freezes or just crashes.  I also deleted and reinstalled which did not help.

Also on the Sky Nov. 3rd.  So who do you call???

I got the phone number of their responses to reviews in the Google Play Store but an interesting thing has happened. When I just tried to access the reviews, I get an error message.  I can't even access my review.  So, I can't get the number.  You might try calling Princess and ask for Medallion Support, they should be able to connect you.  Sorry I couldn't be more help.

I got off the Royal last week.  I discovered that my medallion unlocked the room long before I got there.  My husband's unlocked right as we walked to the door (his was in a pocket and mine was around my neck in a lanyard).  If I held the medallion in my hand, it didn't read it as readily as if it was just hanging around my neck.  I've also read that as the batteries drain, the doors don't open as quickly.

Same experience, same cruise.  By arrival NYC my second medallion was low on power.  My spouse's still worked.  She wrapped the lanyard around her wrist and I carried mine in my pocket...

I've all but given up on which Medallions work better. Some of the door sensors are just more sensitive to certain Medallions.

Quick summary of our 13-day medallion experience...

Not a "WOW" factor.  Caveat here in that we also sailed Celebrity's new Edge earlier this year and were not "WOWed" either.

Medallion was not more useful to us than a cruise card.

It does seem to help bar tenders and maybe other employees.  Whether that is helpful to the quest is problematic.

We did not use the medallion to gamble and didn't see anyone else gambling while roaming the ship or waiting for an event to start.  In fact, saw very few people with noses in a PDA indicative of medallion use.

So, for us, the medallion is a wash.  No better than a cruise card and somewhat more cumbersome.  Possibly Princess/CCL has some future use in mind (other than separating you from your money) for this technology beneficial to the passenger/guest. Its not apparent at the moment and that leaves me wondering if the expense to wire Princess ships for its use is cost effective.  Have not found anything on medallion costs to install, but likely not inexpensive.  Will be back out on Enchanted next year and possible by then Princess will have enabled a more practical application beneficial to the cruise passenger for this technology.

I believe when Sky launches in Oct; Princess will then see how well the medallion program works with a ship that was built for the medallion and was not retro fitted for it. This will be a telling feature how Princess will proceed with the future of the program.  I for one have been on one medallion cruise this year on Caribbean Princess.  I had no issues with the medallion; no glitches.  With that said; we shall see how Sky Princess does.  Hopefully it works like Princess wanted it to.  Have fun out there

I have read through most of the posts regarding the Medallionclass™ app and ordering the medallions. I just put a deposit on a Panama Cruise for December 2020. I downloaded the app and was able to see my booking, as well as, order my medallions. I am confused why there are so many apps associated with the medallionclass™ ships.  It would be nice if there is only app. Does anyone know how the apps work on android phones.
