Third party lenses are interesting when they offer something not offered in first party, and/or offer you a significant cost savings.

Sony already has an excellent 85mm F/1.8 which they sell for an affordable $550...

So this lens is just slightly cheaper, at almost $400... it's much heavier than the Sony. And it's pretty unlikely it's optically better. In other words, not very interesting.

On the other hand, the Samyang/Rokinon 85/1.4 is interesting... testing it now.
