Touring the Rainforest

Recommended Posts

Trying to decide between a 4x4 tour through the rainforest, or a walking tour.

The 4x4 tour would be a longer trek through the forest (mileage wise), so we would see more of it.

The walking tour is a two mile circular trail.  But, by walking, we'd be able to get up close and more detailed looks.  But, would we get the same amount of variety and feeling of being "in" the rainforest as the 4x4 ride?

Touring the rainforest is absolutely something we are greatly looking forward to, so picking the excursion that really gets us into it is a high priority.

Thanks for the input!

We had a great time.... but it didn't go as planned.

We decided on the walking tour with Gregg's Safari, which we booked online in advance directly with them.  The ship did not offer this tour.  They didn't ask for any payment in advance, but was a no show at the pier.

So, we hired one of the tour guides that hang around the information desk, and we had a terrific time.  The walk lasted just under 2 hours, and then he drove us around a little, before taking us back to the ship.  He charged us less than half what Gregg's Safari would have been.

You could also contact James Javin. We did a tour with them that included the rain forest (and a few other places) and fed us some yummy food. They have a pet monkey that tours with them as well and it was an interesting and fun day. I have a link to my review in my signature line with tons of pictures if anyone is interested.
